Before there was Black blues, there was white blues...listen to old railroad, country, folk and appalachin music.

Whites invented the guitar, electric guitar, and the chordal structure of this music.

Pentatonic= A major scale w/ the tritone removed.

This removes not one but 2 very dissonant intervals from any possible harmonic or melodic movement: the tritone & the half step. Also this scale most likely came about because since it lacked the half step & the tritone, it had much weaker tendencies & therefore made for less tense music.

Lower the tonic by a semitone & U get the major pentatonic down a perfect 4th.

This was developed BY Whites for Whites.

@StSimonMartyr I have to disagree with you there. The scales & chord progressions used in today's blues. They are based off the Pentatonic Scale (Penta -latin for Five) which has its roots

deeply inbeded in Africa. One of the most powerful gospel songs today. Is based off that scale. You can figure out that song for yourself!!!!

The Major/Minor system as we know it was defined by Bach's "The Well Tempered Clavier" (I think Chopin did something similar later), there he set up the "correct" tunning and also kissed the modes goodbye (they came back later though :cool: )
