I saw Marni live on Broadway in 2009, she's a wonderful Christine! However, this is not her best performance, but he Cadenza and high note were wonderful here! ^_^
HES THE BEST FREAKING PHANTOM EVER!!!!! I met him. 3 times in fact. theres a picture of when I was like 4 and hes kissing me on the cheek and he sent me an autographed cd inscribed to 'his littlest fan' i just about died i thought it was cool!!!
Even though she has an exceptional range, and her acting is brilliant, I dislike her tone very much. I don't know, it just sounds too heavy for Christine.
I think it's probably because the Phantom in the script sounds always forceful whenever he wants something. I went to the shows when the tour came to Taiwan in 2006 and last year, and I actually like that. It might be his own feeling of how the Phantom should sound like.
Marni has a wonderful voice. When I hear her voice, I am so intrigued to hear more. Brad Little can be easily placed with Marni as his voice is just as powerful as hers.
John Cudia, Micheal Crawford, and Anthoney Warlow. Though Micheal Crawford and John Cudia always switch from first to second. I can't pick! LOL. This was good.
thanks for sharing... brad will be at a concert for our 4th of july celebration and was hoping to hear what he sounds like!! he is great, but still not as good, i think as John Cudia!!
Marni Raab is simply fantastic. I saw her when she was in this role in Tulsa. She was my first stage Christine, and she, Richard Todd Adams, and Greg Mills had such wonderful chemistry.
I saw this show like over 4 times. Apparentally I saw it when I was like, 4, and I only freaked out when she kissed him and my mom said to me, "Well, look, he is actually good looking and goes home to his wife and children each night."
he was really really good. of course anyone physically capable of singing as the phantom is really good. but... i thought he could have done just a bit better...
:D she really does doesn't she??? if you like ana, check out londons newest christine, gina beck!she and patti cohenour are my personal favorites. and johns one of my fave phantoms!
Ahhh......I've seen all of the above! I loved Marni Raab as Christine.......Howard is amazing, John is great......Brad is my favorite out of the 3 though.......Truth be told, they are all phantastic in their own right :)
this is NOT John but i do agree that John is amazing!! he will be taking over for Howard at the end of Jan! on Broadway!! sad for those of us who look forward to traveling performances but great for him!!!
Yes, I agree. I seen Brad Little in Sacramento twice, next week I'm seeing Marni Raab. The hroing of his hat was cool but throwing the cape was cool too. Wearing both the hat/cape make him look SEXY
Her high E is by far my favourite. She hits to so effortlessly, like she's not even trying. And the rest of her cadenza is flawless, it just rolls out.
ElphabaDaae, I love your screen name. Wicked and Phantom are my two very favorite musicals. So you saw Phantom on June 27 at the Kennedy Center? Me too! Did you go to the lunch with the cast?
I saw Marni in Philly for my Christmas present in Philly when I was 12 about a half a year ago. She was great!!!!!!!! I saw her with John Cudia who was equally as awesome
YAY!! I am going to see the show in '08, I am not sure about Marni(she is likely to be the Christine that I see) she is kinda warming up to me though.....maybe, we will see.....
I saw Brad Little as the Phantom once the second time I went to see the musical on stage when it was touring I thought he was a desent Phantom and I saw Marni as Christine!
I saw Marni in Toronto this past February. I found her to be the weak link in the show. I thought she overacted the part and her singing was 'off' as it is in this video. Her voice is often sharp and not quite on pitch. Now, I know people get terribly emotional about their fave Christines, so please don't attack me. I'm just sharing my opinion. Of course, I've been in love with Rebecca Caine since I first saw HER in Toronto over a decade ago.
I completely agree. She was my first stage Christine and I didn't like her. She was either emotionless or overacting and her singing wasn't that phenomenal.
Terribly. Sigh. Even when the poor dear is dead-tired after a night show and then he gets people like me asking him how many women have grabbed him already. 8D
Somehow can't bring myself to feel really guilty.
Met Marni after the show in Toronto 07.Saw her play Christine 9 times. She signed my book & took pictures with me.She was very happy to get the rose I bought her 4 her great performance. A Great Christine.
I'm pretty sure that the entire "The Phantom of the Opera" song is pre-recorded. The actors don't have time to sing properly because they're moving around and getting into the boat backstage. Plus, it would be very strenuous for the actress to sing Christine's cadenza 6 times a week.
I know.!....I'm going to see the show this summer and I'm really looking forward to watching it on stage for the first time but I was expecting Jennifer Hope Wills the whole time because they said she was gonna be Christine....but they changed it to this Marni Raab person instead.....I guess they just suddenly decided to change the Christines.....
theAngelsSong, you must be seeing it at the Kennedy Center this summer. Me too! I'm actually going twice! I had thought it would be Jennifer Hope Wills too, but Marni Raab sounds okay. If it's not too personal, when are you going? I'll be there June 22 and August 1.

Yep. It takes alot of training, but it's possible. I'm working on Phantom of the Opera right now for a community theater and the girl who is playing Christine can sing it really well for a 15 years old.
It's with a small musical theater company for local teens in the city where I live. Many cities have them. This theater personally voted between the musicals Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Highschool Musical, and Rent. They decided on Phantom of the Opera. It's nothing we're going to get real famous for; however, it does sound like it.
I meant song not songs. Sorry, but there is no way that 3.75% of this song is sung. People pay moneu to see the play, and so each nite that they see it they would be getting the same preformance? If so, than tahts just straight out gay. I am sorry if i seem ruse, but its really ahrd to believe, that someone(me) who has seen the play 17 times would notisce after seeing Hugh do it 3 nights in a row, that his songs sounded similar. Anyways, i do not mean to be ruse, and if i seem that way im sorry
Trust me ... the song is mostly recorded. They pick up in the boat and then the last notes of the cardenza are recorded. A great portion of the overture is pre recorded as well. And yes, you aren't supposed to notice it. That's the whole thing.
However, if you ever make it on a night when the "other Christine's track is played by mistake, you'll notice it. That has happened to me before ... in 2002 when Rebecca Pitcher's track was played when Julie Hanson was doing the performance.
Marni is great! Brad overacts, but probably because it's in Japan and perhaps a few of the theatergoers might not understand English. And what's up with that weird pointy mask???
Brad and Marni are amazing together! Their voices are so pure and lovely!
