The guy in the Nissan doesnt know how to drive/race his car. He is always looking at the RPMs to know when to shift. He needs to learn how to just listen and feel when the car wants the next gear. And he looks like a dumb ass the way that he is shifting gears...lol.
The GTI would have won, it has a wider power band. I have a MKVI GTI with APR stage 2+ tune. Full RSC 3" exhaust from turbo back. Diesel geek SSK and twintercooler. My GTI has taken each 350z that I have raced so far. But I know my car isnt the fastest thing on the planet. I am thinking about going to APR stage 3+ during the summer. Lets see how that turns out. I cant wait for more power lol.
@99g07p Um, no, the Z would pull on the top end. The poster of the video even says that. The gti doesn't have a wider powerband, it's actually the Z that pulls strongly from 2000 to 7000, where a gti is done before 6K.
Not hating in any way, shape or form....just a piece of advice...Tune your ears, and what i mean by that is, start to listen to your engine/exhaust note when you're driving and learn at what point you need to shift so you can keep your eyes on the road. If you watch the video, your eyes keep shifting back and forth. I would hate to see a car pull out in front of you when you are glancing down (all it takes is a split second).

@gsxguy7 I raced a 350z in my GTI and I was able to leave him- not because of speed, mind you, but because of the short wheelbase and maneuverability of the GTI compared to the 350z. There were a lot of cars on the road that day though and I know he'd have fried me if he had more room to move around.
