Yes, Aspasia Poulaki is apparently a Turkish name. She just took a vacation to the Greek island of Chios in 1922 and decided to stay there after her house in Izmir, Turkey was accidentally destroyed by fire.

He was born on the island of Chios and spent his childhood years in different provincial Greek cities such as Mytilene, Cephallonia, Pyrgos, Patras, and Tripolis. His father was from Crete and his mother from Asia Minor.

Asia Minor, means not turkish. It means she's from greek societis who survived in that region like Smyrna. At least survived till then.

He's 100% greek like he's music. Enjoy.

I love this song ''Strose to stroma sou'' ; I learnt to dance sirtaki when I had my 20 years of age birthday party and one of my college mates came with a tape called ''The best of Theodoriakis'' and he taught us dancing sirtaki ...this was my first original greek dance I danced in my life...simply beautiful...full of life and energy and keeps everyone's heart happy and full of joy...and In am Romanian saying all these things..makes me proud of being born a human being !!!
