@RebelSonBand Definitely 12 SS. The Hitler Jugend division was formed on the basis of a Hitler Youth soldiers with cadre staff (often ex Hitler Youth) from Leibstandarte veterans. So when they came up with a symbol for the Hitler Jugend 12 SS panzer division, they incorporated the single lightning rune of the Hitler Jugend over the top of Key symbol of Leibstandarte.

But u are correct that they had new manpower but keep in mind there "manpower" were 17 year old hitler youth boys. And there offiecers were leibstandarte "veterans" who were really only in there 20s. I never heard of heer officers bieng converted.

According to Hubert Meyer in The 12th SS volume 1 1994 page 15, "At the same time, the division attempted in any way possible to fill the officer positions.........In total, some fifty officers of the Heer were assigned to the division. They served in Heer uniform, but other than that assimilated completely into the division"

The applicants who had been accepted during a second recruiting drive, those born in the second half of the year 1926, were at least sixteen and a half years old......many of the boys were poorly nourished and had only a limited ability to endure more strenuous physical exeretions".

@waffenss893 In terms of LAH officer & NCO veterans, I again concur with you. My grandfather was perhaps typical. He was with LAH from 1941- Mar 1943, 3 Kompanie SS Sturmgeschütz Abteilung. Seriously wounded at Karkov. 3 months in an SS hospital at Wien. Subsequent to being deemed "war ready" again after healing, he was one of the first to be posted to the new 12 SS panzer division Hitler Jugend. At just 20 yrs of age, he was considered a veteran Rottenfuehrer (Corporal).

Ive still got his knights cross, german cross in gold, close combat clasp in silver, woundbadge in gold, iron cross 1st+2nd class, infantry assult badge, genral assult badge and the war merit cross 1st+2nd class. He was given his knights cross from the hands of hitler himself. He also had friends in the LAH but he died in 1944.

The design of the division was made by a member of the division itself. I see. re: the cadre staff of the HJ division. FIRST selection with LAH soldiers with combat experience and former HJ.
@RebelSonBand re: equipment. The Division was formed both understaffed and underequiped despite Himmlers full attention. Sorry, but according to Meyer, the unit had some of the most advanced equipment but far short of the divisions full complement. In terms of training, it was abbreviated but effective ie training of 17 yr olds under livefire. No parade ground drill etc. Just combat realism in a short time on only what was essential to survive in combat. According to Meyer.

@RebelSonBand Definitely 12 SS. The Hitler Jugend division was formed on the basis of a Hitler Youth soldiers with cadre staff (often ex Hitler Youth) from Leibstandarte veterans. So when they came up with a symbol for the Hitler Jugend 12 SS panzer division, they incorporated the single lightning rune of the Hitler Jugend over the top of Key symbol of Leibstandarte.

But u are correct that they had new manpower but keep in mind there "manpower" were 17 year old hitler youth boys. And there offiecers were leibstandarte "veterans" who were really only in there 20s. I never heard of heer officers bieng converted.

@waffenss893 Hi. You are mostly correct. However there were some Heer officers serving within the 12 SS Panzer Division Hitler Jugend. According to Hubert Meyer in The 12th SS volume 1 1994 page 15, "At the same time, the division attempted in any way possible to fill the officer positions.........In total, some fifty officers of the Heer were assigned to the division. They served in Heer uniform, but other than that assimilated completely into the division"

The applicants who had been accepted during a second recruiting drive, those born in the second half of the year 1926, were at least sixteen and a half years old......many of the boys were poorly nourished and had only a limited ability to endure more strenuous physical exeretions".

@waffenss893 In terms of LAH officer & NCO veterans, I again concur with you. My grandfather was perhaps typical. He was with LAH from 1941- Mar 1943, 3 Kompanie SS Sturmgeschütz Abteilung. Seriously wounded at Karkov. 3 months in an SS hospital at Wien. Subsequent to being deemed "war ready" again after healing, he was one of the first to be posted to the new 12 SS panzer division Hitler Jugend. At just 20 yrs of age, he was considered a veteran Rottenfuehrer (Corporal).

Ive still got his knights cross, german cross in gold, close combat clasp in silver, woundbadge in gold, iron cross 1st+2nd class, infantry assult badge, genral assult badge and the war merit cross 1st+2nd class. He was given his knights cross from the hands of hitler himself. He also had friends in the LAH but he died in 1944.

Sorry, but according to Meyer, the unit had some of the most advanced equipment but far short of the divisions full complement. In terms of training, it was abbreviated but effective ie training of 17 yr olds under livefire. No parade ground drill etc. Just combat realism in a short time on only what was essential to survive in combat. According to Meyer.

@slimatnight Abgesehen davon, dass nun mittlerweile selbst in ehemaligen Alliiertenkreisen absolut ernstzunehmende Stimmen unüberhörbar werden, die sehr deutlich die krude Mär von der deutschen Kriegschuld widerlegen. Also ist das mit "in die Scheisse reiten" auch ein wenig ambivalenter zu betrachten. Wehrmacht und SS waren an systematischer Ausrottung/Tötung von Zivilisten beteiligt. Das bedingte eine verkommene, totalitäre Ideologie, hinter der die Deutschen in ihrer Mehrheit standen. Man kann das eine nicht vom anderen trennen. Solche Machwerke müssen Historiker widerlegen, im gleichen Medium, der Platz hier reicht nie aus.
