I liked your video, I have made lumpia before but never with ground meat. I slow cook a pork roast until it is shreddable. Then I add my veggies and other ingredients to the meat and then wrap and fry. I can not find lumpia wrappers at all where I live. So I use egg roll wrappers from the closest grocery store. Is there a big difference in the thickness of the two, the ones I get are square as well. Also do you use veggie oil or peanut oil to fry your lumpia? Thanks and again nice job.
@aheegirl83 i don't know exactly what you have at your grocery store, but I imagine egg roll wrappers to be lumpia wrappers since lumpias are egg rolls. (?) some are thicker than others, but it doesn't really matter unless the texture bothers you. i use veggie oil, but peanut and olive are ok too. those are healthier to use anyway.
@KitschkweenDIY They turned out AMAZING!!! They were gone in 20 minutes so now I know to make a whole bunch more next time. Do you have a good sauce you make yourself that goes with this?
@CrescendoCrimson that's awesome! my sauce is the one at the end of the video: soy sauce, vinegar, pepper and garlic. sweet and sour sauce with chili paste is good too.
I love this! Im going to definitely try this today...LOL My uncle married a Filipino and I loved spending the night over their house with my cousins for the food! She always made Lumpia for the holidays! I just went to my cousins wedding expecting to eat some but my aunt said it was to much to make :( So i decided to try to make some for myself...I seen other recipes with raisins do you suggest this?
@naturallysweetkandi I DEFINITELY suggest raisins! I'm making some today. I ALWAYS put one or two (or two or three^^) in each roll. My mom made them with raisins and it is such a nice addition. I really miss them if I eat a lumpia w/out.
That product you use should it be on ice? How bout the egg I never know my chefs got me to freak out about stupid stuff. bacteria will get all over the place...
@007majorgonzo i don't put anything on ice while i'm making it. as long as you're careful about what you touch, bacteria won't get all over the place.
Wow i just put this video on a lot later.. Noticed how with the differnt bottles you use towels! Funny when you watch the older chefs they go touch the raw chicken and then go touch everything in the kitchen.... Good job lady you got mad skillz..
Love your vid. Yours are the closest to what I have tried from various pilipino friends I have had throughout my life. Except for different ingredients here and there added, but every family has a different, delicious recipe :) BTW, LOVE your curtains at the end of the vid. Where did you get them, or did you make them and where did you get the material? Happy cooking and Happy New Year!!!
Super good video! Just what I was looking for. I also got a kick outta hearing "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen in the background!

can u also precook the meat first befrore wrapping them in the wraps?
katdua77 4 months ago
@katdua77 in theory that sounds like a good idea, but the consistency, taste and texture would be different, especially after frying it.

I noticed some recipes call for shrimp too...do you do that occasionally? Thank you that was great by the way!
