Oh well one thing is true in this English film until now, and That is History is lay, and anyone who wants to know the throuth should Research and never ever Believe in Layers.....
If I remember the book right The Walker was a thief. As they say here in the movie, but they didn't steal his soul. He was cursed by the Light to carry one of the signs. An protect it from the Dark until the Seeker came for it. Help me out here and tell me if I'm right.
The Walker is a pivotal character in Susan Cooper's novel. This is, honestly, the worst movie remake I've seen in terms of retaining any of the soul of the original story. I recommend that you read The Dark is Rising to see what might have been. :)
@thiswildabyss I've never read the book, but the movie was just an average Hollywood movie. It desperately NEEDED something more to make it a better cinematic experience. From what I've read, had Hollywood treated the source material with more respect & made a truer adaption, this movie could've been wonderful. (That's stupid executives dumbing it down for ye).
.
BTW,... WORST adaption? Nah..
TRANSFORMERS . (& GI Joe)
Other than the NAMES, the movie had NOTHING in common w/ the source material.
and the fact that maggie and the walker only meet twice..once when he was hawkin, and then when she wanted the 2 signs...but he didnt talk to her at all there...what a shame..
jono is a great pick for the walker and potraies him perfectly...except for the fact, that this is not the walker from thr books..but the walker he is..is great too..i love jonathan.. <3
Wow. This is like. Not at all like the book. They weren't in a building at all. They were out in the snow, on Walker Way. It wasn't raining. The sign doesn't even look like the sign described in the book. And who is that guy who was talking?! No guy was saying that in the book. Wow. I hate the people who made this movie. Sorry.
I now know why they cut JJ's parts out, even if JJ was great in them.....those parts were so completely removed from the source material the term being "Screwed with" doesn't quite cover it. Merriman "stealing" the walker's soul? the light being no better than the dark? what kind of f*cked up writing is that? if you're not even gonna keep the spirit of the book then don't make it into a film. It's like making Gandalf morally ambiguous....
They cut him out of the DVD I just watched.. I thought i was losing my mind when I didnt see him in it... I could have sworn he was the Walker, but they didnt even show the Walker in the one I just watched.. that was way weird.. and messed up. The only saving factor of this movie (cuz the book was way better) was JJ being in it.. I love his work.. he's so talented... but I bought it for nothing.. he's listed on the outside of the box, but nowhere on the credits or in the movoie!
damn this is a cruddy movie beats reading the book i guess
