  • That's her Mars lady from her show!!

  • 1:14 lol so funny

  • Is Lucy speaking Jibberish or German?

  • heart FUND... it was a charity thing back then

  • "help your heartfun" never heard the term before but I love it, it's the kind of message that resonates throughout all these years that's why we love ms. Lucille ball. On another note that Arlene woman is pretty Hot for them days. The way she says "do do that boys" as she does that thing with her eyes is just purely sensual.

  • Lucy was pure class. I do not think any commedien of today can outshine her. She outshines everyone put together.

  • Lucy was possessed of such grace, what a fine example of a human being.

  • She was lovely....

  • A couple real treats here at the end: the go-around of heart-felt goodnights--completely charming--and a rare chance to hear the instrumental music that closes the show.

  • This is pure gold! Lucy was at the height of her fame here; she had the number 1 most watched TV sitcom at the time; everyone knew who she was, it's too weird the panel didn't recognize her distinct voice. On her show, she did tons of voices, including the one she made here to disguise herself, using the "woman from Mars" voice she used on her own show. If I didn't know better, this even looks scripted or rehearsed & not live & natural.

  • "do you sing"

    "eejh"

    LOLOL I LOVE LUCY

  • I was hoping that Lucy and Deborah would embrace like old friends and be very happy... a bit of a dissapointment

  • i love lucy and she loves me. shes a red head as you can see

  • One of the things I love the most of this show is their hand wirtting :) Also I love everything about it

  • I Really do love Lucy <3

  • do you sing?

    elllll

    LOL

  • SHE IS ADORABLE! Thanks for posting these. :)

  • 1:08 She said "maricon"... which me gay in Cuban slang. Tony Montana in Scarface says that alot as well.

  • I love how the men always stood up back then.

  • I love the commercial jargon they use to sell deoderant. "Stoppette with Anti- Immunity Factor". Hmm, spend $1.25 (a lot in those days I'll bet) and compromise your immune system.

  • Moo moo

  • love the commercials . Stopette.lol

Lucy was talking in Orkian like Mork:)

She was such such a natural comedianne.

Debra Kerr, loved her in An Affair to Remember.

She looked awestruck when she saw it was Lucy:)

  • I love the part

    "do you sing?"

    "EGH"

  • i love how lucy could be naturally goofy and crazy.

  • the way she does that noise in I love Lucy it's so obvious it's her. She has a certain pitch to her voice

  • her comedic talent really overshadowed how pretty she was....former showgirl

  • She was the funniest one ever!! I LOVE her! Wonderful woman!!!

  • Awesome. Was this around the time that "Lucy Is Envious" was filmed? (That's the Lucy episode with the "Women From Mars" stunt.)

  • One of the truly funny women in 100 years. Wiswell must have been a prostate specialist. What a great name for a pharmaceutical.

  • One of the truly funny women in 100 years.

  • I feel bad for Mr. Wiswell...

  • its great to see that nobody was standing up and saying "im sorry Lucy and i will let you finish, but Ricky Ricardo had the better role on i love lucy" damn, how times have changed. nobody has class and respect anymore.

  • I could watch this ALL day! :) I Love Lucy

  • Help the heart fund, from a 3 pack a day smoker...

  • I love you, Lucille Ball. :)

  • I love Lucille Ball. 60 years later and this is still hilarious.

  • It's a moo moo. The episode was Lucy is Envious. Lucy and Ethel play Women from Mars at the top of the Empire State Building to raise money for a charity pledge. I recognized the voice immediately since that is one of my favorite episodes of I Love Lucy.

  • It reminds me of the I Love Lucy, The the one were Lucy and Ethel dress up like Aliens.

  • i love her reaction when he asked 'are you a man?'lol

  • "It must be Lucy!!" Deborah is so cute!!

  • i bet heavens a blast with lucy !

  • This is the first one I'v e seen that the sexes weren't balanced 2 by 2 on the panel.

  • She should of signed in Queen of Television ..

  • Lucille Ball is amazing! This was absolutely amazing and hilarious, much like I Love Lucy. And btw, she doesn't have an annoying voice. The nanny, Fran Drescher, does. But I love them both.

  • I would have guessed it was her after the first answer...only one person has an annoying voice like that.

  • @Odette321 actually as far as annoying voices go andy kaufman's latka had the most. so um that makes you wrong, but since the year was before his time, well really you're still wrong lol.

  • kinda fun to think she was just another star at that time..now shes an icon.. everyone else on this show has long been 4 gotten

  • That was her voice/language from the episode of I Love Lucy where her and Ethel dress up as Women From Mars and are on the top of the Empire State Building. I believe the episode is called "Lucy Is Envious," she was envious of a old school friend of hers (the actress later turns up to play Betty Ramsey) who is wealthy and hits her and Ethel up for $500 dollars each for a charity.

  • WTF was that haircut/hairstyle of the host like the head of the grandfather of Astro Boy!!

  • Holy cow. SO funny!

  • Is Lucille Ball speaking German? Ooooooh i'm learning it rite now anyway :D

  • I need shows like these. Not The Bachelor and Jersey Shore!!

  • @misskris111 I agree! This is classic! I would love to see shows like this on TV and actors/actresses like lucille ball and bette davis. Society progressed but left class in the 60's. there hasn't been a woman since marilyn monroe.

  • She sounds like she's doing the Martian gibberish that she and Ethel did when they were doing the martian landing on top of the empire state building. Yep, that was a great episode, and she sounds the same!

  • miss kerr, do you know who this is? it must be... it's lucy

  • How could they not get that?? Lucy was giving off MAJOR hints. With the "It's a moo moo" and "rabage!" talk. Or was that episode done a little after she appeared here? lol I'm all confused now.

  • and it was her heart that took her.... i miss you lucy

  • "do you sing?" ".....eeeooooooohhhhh." :D why aren't there shows like this anymore???

  • 2funny !!

  • I grew up watching Lucy! I absolutely love her. It's also a shame that she died before I was old enough to appreciate her. I think I was about 2 years old. It's also a shame what happened with her last sitcom try in the 80's. She was very saddened and deeply depressed, when it failed. She thought that America didn't love her anymore. I think it's what killed her. She was a pioneer, and a truly gracious and humble person.

  • Lucy has always been a hero of mine. For her to do so many things that scared her (including appearing on this game show) must have been no small feat, and I say that as a person with multiple anxiety disorders. And she didn't let any of that nervousness affect her comedic abilities, either. She was just perfection, and I will always adore her.

  • hey, yall, its a moo!!!!! lol

  • Is that a valentine on her head?

    God she was brilliant...

  • year?

  • I like that this video shows the original ads too, so you get the entire 50's millieu of the segment. The last ad looked like it was Georgia Engell doing it, but this was 20 years before MTM, so I'm guessing not. anybody else think this?

  • I love how classy Arlene is here. Rather than guess it herself, she let guest panelist Deborah Kerr have the honor. Love her...and Lucy!!

  • She was soooo Funny I LOVE LUCY

  • omg Deborah is so cute when she says 'goodnight Arleene' and donating her cheque to charity - so sweet. Love Lucy - i think id have know that was Lucy but kept askin questions cause it was so funny

  • Even disguised the voice is so obvious !!!!

  • @9TheMajor She used that voice on I Love Lucy when she and ethel were dressed as martians.

  • When they ask her if she is a man she says "maricon" something or other which is spanish for "faggot."

  • @fefo70 My guess is that she learned that one from her husband.

  • at 0:49 i was like "oh no i hope that didn't give it away!!!" lol classic lucy

  • is she speaking another language or just a made up one?

  • its Esperanto, an old Creole language from Germany

  • Esperanto is an artificial lanuage used for international communication largely European in base. To my ancestral understanding, Creole language is Spanish/French based, not from Germany, which is a Tutonic language.

  • I'm guessing sarcasm is not your middle name...

  • No, sarcasm is not, my middle name. But I can convey it when necessary. If the attempt is to be funny, ironic remarks made in type do not have the inflection as vocal delivery. Instead the printed remark comes off as ignorant, not "clever."

I may not be the only one who failed to understand your remark as a joke. Too many people could be inclinded to take that literally. Lucy would tell you the same thing.

  • There's no need to get flustered, Ray. I neither meant to be "clever" nor make a "joke", only to point out the idiocy in assuming that her "Martian" in this clip is an actual language.

And maybe point out as well the idiocy in assuming someone would actually believe that someone thought she was speaking Esperanto, and that Esperanto is "an Old Creole language from Germany." You must be a regular at the Laugh Factory.

  • Actually, I have better things to do, and being "flustered" this is not one of them.

While you and I may know the difference about the language, others may not in light of the inaccurate reference to Creole and the German language which I was pointing out.

If the "joke" has to be explained at such length, maybe it's a flop. Certainly not ready for THE LAUGH FACTORY. That said, I hope we understand each other.

The purpose here is not for petty squabbles.

  • @wgmhottie11551 Oh, pleaes, you don't get it, do you"?

  • @RayPointer what?

  • Someone is not in on the joke. She is speaking the "language" in the third season episode #89 titled "Lucy is Envious." She and Ethel take on a "Publicity Stunt" job to promote a movie, "Women from Mars." Atop The Empire State Building, they are costumed as space aliens and speak in this "dialect." Maybe you should watch for this episode. Then the mystery will be cleared up for you.

  • @RayPointer okay well im sorry i havent seen every single episode ever created.

  • Lucy started as a show girl...

....and did a stint on an old three stooges short too!

  • She sounded like Ms. Swan at first.

  • Haha, Lucy. Love her.

  • LOOOOLLLL I love her face when she's asked if she's a man. :D

  • @ILoveLucyStreet why is she so often asked that at least 3 out of 5 times

  • @rebamcEntire1955mar LOL I don't know but it's so funny! xD

  • its her brand of comedy style

  • CLASSIC(: I love her so much!! It was hilarious when they were like, 'can you sing?' Haha, that was priceless!!

Never will there ever be another Lucille Ball. One of the greatest losses, I believe. But I think that Lucille Ball will go on as a legend for eternity, because, how can you not love Lucy?!?!?!? (:

  • I love Deborah and Lucy!!

  • This must be from when she did her "Women from Mars" I love lucy.

  • arlene's jibberish is funny and Lucy dress is so cool

  • wow Mrs Ball made herself sound like a star wars jawa

  • This woman was a comic genius.

  • no kidding! I love her.

  • I agree the whole womens lib crap killed chivelry.

  • Did you notice that Mr. Allen stood up to shake Lucy's hand? Yes, a different time, when people respected others. Those days are gone for good, because there are just too many that only care about themselves and no one else.

  • That's because back then men had respect for women exhibited by standing in their presence as well as removing their hats in their presence or opening the door for them. It was a far more civilized society and time having protocols and etiquettes. But the Lesbian Woman's Movement changed and obliterated all that and now today women are not revered anymore since they want to be "equal" to men. The whole thing backfired on women and they lost their Femininity when Feminism killed it.

  • Advice for all the girls reading this: you are blue chip stock. Today men and women still respect each other as PEOPLE and they ALL know its about MORE than protocols & etiquettes and removing headwear. Should you ever meet someone with the shallow, superficial, obtuse mentality illustrated by the above individual, be a lady: walk away and never look back; failing that, show them the door and make sure they never COME back.

  • By the above individual I mean Eschatus2

  • Or better yet, just drop kick the misogynist, Vacuum Squirrel, in the @ss back to Canada from whence he came.

  • I agree wholeheartedly.

  • Now thanks to the ghetto culture, too many take pride in being or being called "bitches" and "ho's"

  • @Eschatus2 Thats true. Many conservative wome who hate feminists tell me that before the feminist movement, women had more respect from men. Now women want not to be equals, but above men. So they dug the hole that they fell into.

  • Deep but true, that it progress maybe the world will learn a lesson from its self interests.

    greatly....

  • @kyokogodai - sadly, I couldn't agree more - gone for good ..

  • @kyokogodai Yes, it sure was a different time. Rampant racism and segregation, but, hey, at least Steve Allen stood up to shake Lucy's hand

  • @clash5j Nice answer, Troll.. Those two things you list have been around since the beginning of time. Standing up for a lady (what Steve Allen did), has come and gone. Now all we have is rampant racism and segregation. Thanks!

  • @kyokogodai "Did you notice that Mr. Allen stood up to shake Lucy's hand? Yes, a different time, when people respected others. Those days are gone for good, because there are just too many that only care about themselves and no one else."

No, I did not notice that, and neither did the other 49 morons who gave you a thumbs up because MR DALY, the HOST, also stood up.

By the way, some of us gentlemen still know how to stand in the presence of a lady and other gentlemen. So speak 4 urself.

  • @whoregay I think your youtube name speaks volumes, to how much of a "gentleman" you are. 'Nuff said!

  • @kyokogodai

Huh? I always stand up to meet someone. Of course I'm ancient.

  • @kyokogodai

Believe it or not it still happens in east Europe especially Hungary!!!!

  • @Woodspiritsoul And for that I am greatful. It is good news to hear, so thank you!

  • @kyokogodai okay, here's the problem I have with these comments (because there are MANY comments like the one you've posted here). And I just want to say ahead of time that Im sorry to have picked on you, this reply isnt necessarily directed personally at you, just that your comment was at the right place at the right time.

Alrighty so I'm sure that most of you took history some time during your school years, so can anyone tell me what the 50s were most recognized for?

  • It sure as heck wasn't respect. Quite the opposite my fellow youtubers. This was around the time the whole US was in great turmoil both overseas and with in it's own land. Folks, I know that the 50s were portrayed as a glamorous time (and I kinda admit it probably sorta was), where everyone was super nice to their fellow neighbors, but the thing is, these people were also likely to have a handkerchief in their pocket or purse to wipe off their hands if they ever needed to shake a different

  • @kyokogodai colored person's hand. You know what I mean? I suppose what Im getting at is you need to let the good in with the bad. Yeah the US is pretty damn filthy right now but on the brighter side, we're also a bit more open and understanding then our retro counterparts. I really do wish there was a way for these two cultures to mesh so that we could be both classy and understanding of each other.

So again im sorry kyokogodai for specifically responding to your comment, but i needed a

  • @MsEyeBubbles The '50's were great. I miss that decade terribly. People were so much more courteous to one another. Men were real men and women were real women. Women were held up on a pedestal by their men and women let the men wear the pants in the family and bring home the bacon. Men today have been castrated by the feminists who don't like them and would rather see them non-existent. Look what has happened to the family structure and our culture. We act like cavemen, no class. I love the 50s

  • @SoCalGal52

You appear to obviously be from a different generation. What you fail to realize is that socioeconomic realities keep us from going back the way things were that decade. Although you seem to have fond memories of the 50's, there was a lot of dysfunction that was covered up for the sake of appearance. In fact, it was our very attempts to cover those things up that led to the "revolutions" of the 60's-present day.

  • @crazy2hazy I'm 59, I was born in 1952. I don't know how old you are, but yes, I have great memories of the 1950's more so then any decade since then, except maybe the '80's when Reagan was President. What you said about the dysfunction and the cover ups are true, but that's with any decade. We didn't have the second to second media or internet back then, obviously, which I think has hurt our culture in many ways. I still stand by what I said, a great decade and families who stayed together.

  • @SoCalGal52 Agreed. It was a great decade and the greatness ended when Clinton came to power and the age of media-sanctioned immorality and sleeze came on the scene. Give me the the 'cover-up's of the 1950's anyday over the general decay of society today. The 'revolutions's of the 1960's were fueled largely by drugs, feminism and the onset of the radical liberal media.

  • @kyokogodai comment that represented this idea that a lot of people were having (as supported by the number of thumbs up you have). But i gotta say, this idea is a nice one indeed.

  • LOL wow third time they thought she was a man wtf

  • I love how Arlene Frances pick up the jibberish and gave it right back to Lucy, They don't make em' like this anymore.

  • 09:52 - what a beauty..

  • 1.23! haha Lucy is the best! 0.23 she is soo cute! 2.27 lol! i cant stop watchin this, Lucy is always chearin me up - such a gem!

  • this was hilarious!!! thanks for telling me about it!

And thanks, thirstyonthursday, for sharing this!!

  • I miss Lucy even though we can see her all the time on TV and, if there's a merciful God, always will. She was truly one of the greats.

  • haha that was so funny!

  • I loved watching her in this clip; She was so pretty! Possibly the most beautiful woman ever!

  • yes indded. And made even more beautiful by her uniqueness, wonderful humor and star quality. Truely One of a kind

  • This was hilarious.

Lucy's language reminds me of when Rose from the Golden Girls names places in Saint Olaf

    AHahaha

  • 3:26 - "This is what happens when you have dinnner ???"

  • this is like the eppy of ILL when she n ethel do the publicity stunt as martian

  • I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • Hilarious!!Thank you!!Love this episode

  • Listen to Lucille Ball speak starting at 4:37. That's her real voice there, not the high pitched voice she used when she played Lucy Ricardo. It's interesting hearing her speak as Lucille Ball, not Lucy Ricardo.

  • i found that really interesting too. u never really got to hear that during I Love Lucy. i read that she would scream because some1 told her that her voice was too high and screaming would make that lower

  • The contestant before Lucy sold maternity clothes, this was just after she gave birth to Desi Jr.

  • Lucy was the mystery guest on What's My Line with John Daly at least four times. On this time solo, on other 3 times with Desi, Bob Hope, and another solo.

  • What does the clothing thing mean at 3:49? Cool clip, btw. :)

  • Watch part 2/3 of this show. The last guest sold maternity clothes. She asks if Lucy was recently interested in maternity clothing, which means she knew it was Lucy, since Lucy had just given birth to Desi Arnaz Jr. at that time and it was all over the headlines.

  • Thanks very much for posting all three of these installments. (Too bad there wasn't more time for the checkers player. Looked like an interesting poser.)

  • I think he puts the pimentos in the olives!

  • Lucy is a belle! And funny, too!

I mean, how awesome is that? A beauty that can be hilarious...aaaah...

  • That was so funny.

It's a shame Deborah didnt have more chance to ask questions.

  • OMG I never noticed how pretty Lucy is, especially when she's smiling or laughing! Also, I think Lucy used this Martian voice on the ILL episode "Lucy Is Envious" a couple years before this.

  • At 1:16 What does she ask Lucy?

  • She's not really asking anything, just repeating Lucy's gibberish.

  • I luv lucille ball - thanks for posting!

  • Silly language or not, I'm stunned they didn't recognize her inimitable voice within the first 2-3 minutes.

  • They almost always knew who it was pretty quickly, but kept it going for laughs.

  • Love it!! thanks for posting..Bring back memories...

  • man-sized remington!

  • Well then, may I ask "Why watch?"

  • Oh well, thank you for responding then. :) I am indeed satisfied. But I guess I would like to state here is that, you were not, 'not permitted' to have your own advice. No hard feelings. :D

  • I'm very aware you weren't denying me my opinion of the woman.

It's the others with whom I take issue.

    Be well.

  • One of the best episode of WML!! Thank you for uploading this ThirstyonThursday!

  • 4:07

you don't see beaity and glamour like that anymore. i wish you did. this world would be so much more beautiful.

  • yes, she´s very very beautiful

  • So funny! I love how Arlene talks in the same ridiculous language- priceless!

  • moo moo! She is so funny!

  • i think her and vivian should have been on here together, its a moo moo! LOL

  • Do you sing?

    Ugghhh

  • Everyone did French, Italian and Spanish but no one else made up their own language. lmao.. Lucy was hilarious.

  • Lucy is Gorgeous and Hilarious not every woman can pull that off!

  • Arelene absolutely kills me. She just starts speaking the same ridiculous "language". NOW, that is someone you want to get drunk with!

  • 2:01- Could've been Jerry Lewis, if we didn't know.

  • Lucille is VERY pretty^^

  • SO TRUE, but perhaps because she's so accomlished as a comedic actress people never seem to perceive her beauty.

  • My dad got Lucy while I got Jenna Elfman. I'm pissed.
