@Izzmandias No by just looking at the laws on the books and seeing who put them there you ass. I swear some of you wear your ignorance like a badge of honor.
@mba2ceo Fact: Nuclear control is akin to the self-restraint of gun owners, not gun control.
Nuclear treaties are agreements between nuclear-armed states, not laws passed from some mysterious body that has power over those states. Thus "nuclear control" is an extrapolation of the old joke "an armed society is a polite society." Thanks for helping to show how a pro-second policy works on an international scale.
Why is it that in NONE of these videos that talk about Gun Control do they EVER talk about how Ronald Reagan as Governor of California helped to change the law to keep people from open carry of loaded firearms because of the Black Panthers?
When the found out those young black college students knew the law, the went right ahead and changed it to disarm them. Why is that NOT talked about?
@SpannTV People don't talk about Reagan and Californias gun laws because it is a past event that was repeated all over the country before Reagan did it. The focus is on what is happening now and how to correct the mistakes of the past.
@guamsst The minute I finish typing this response it's in the past. That doesn't make it less relevant because it was a past action. Fact of the matter remains that if you want to continue to talk as if this is just a left leaning position, than at least know the history of the damn legislation that got us to this point in the first place. Hell more recent examples would be the gun laws of NY under Pataki and Guiliani , and the AWB under George H.W. Bush, not exactly ancient history.
@SpannTV You missed my point then reinforced it.......thanks. If you hate Reagan, then say it. My point is that he was not the first or last. Why focus on him unless it is a political vendetta? I said the FOCUS is on the present. I did not say the past was irrelevant. If you think this is not a left leaning position NOW, you are not looking at the presnt at all.
@guamsst I didn't miss anything. The fact of the matter remains that a lot of Gun Control legislation, that is still in effect was enacted by Republicans AS WELL as Democrats. It has nothing to do with a hatred of anybody. So to try to pin gun control solely at the feet of the left or Democrats is a crock. And to try and assert that because that was in the past is also a crock when a lot of REPUBLICAN gun control laws STILL AFFECT US TODAY.
@SpannTV Why would you worry about who legislated what at a time so far back that most of those people are now dead? Look at the cities and states with very strict gun control and you can't help but notice the more liberal the politicians the stricter the gun control. Yes, there are conservatives who think "some" types of gun control are beneficial. Thats why you have to do more than just vote the party line.
@guamsst BECAUSE IT STILL AFFECTS US TODAY! Who gives a damn about the politicians putting them in place being dead if the laws they put in place are still infringing on our rights? And that goes for anybody RIGHT OR LEFT! And I don't know if you know this or not, but some of the strictest Gun Laws are in New York, guess who helped implement them. Pataki and Guliani, BOTH REPUBLICANS, and NOT ancient history.
@guamsst In Wisconsin, where you can't even get a license to carry concealed and they don't honor licenses from other states has had 4 of their last 6 Governors come from the Republican Party, how hard do you see them fighting for your right to own and carry a gun lawfully?
Illinois, is yet another state with laws similar to Wisconsin again, 4 of their last 6 governors were Republicans, and they did nothing to fight for your right to legally own and carry a gun.
@guamsst I'm not beholden to any party. I see the shit for what it is. They playing a shell game and you fall right for it. Trying to blame one side of the political spectrum when both of them are just as culpable.
@SpannTV Assuming your description of the situation is accurate (which is highly dubious), the answer is simple...
Because discussing that is no more relevant to the points at hand than discussing the Fibonacci sequence. Shall we have a litany of self-flagellating catechisms that we have to write before we can discuss any topic? And what is your motivation for bringing the issue up?
Where I used to live, there were a spate of burglaries. We had quite a lot of tools and equipment in the yard and the shed, and were quite worried. Every day, there'd been another burglary on our street. After a week of this, we were woken up by a dog barking, followed by a gunshot; our neighbour, a WWIII veteran, had caught the burglars red-handed and chased them off with his (illegal) service revolver. The burglaries stopped.
This was in England, btw; very few people own guns here.
Similar story in the UK as Australia. Hand guns, semi automatic weapons and even large knives are all illegal and have been for many years now. So what was the result of these bans? Every one resulted in a increase in clime. The handgun ban was so infective crime involving handguns went up every year over the next 10 years
Hi l'm from Australia, we are victoms of gun control, although l do have them [long arms only] all are registered. hand guns are very restrictive. violent crime is through the roof. Our former PM in 1996 stated that only police and the military should have them. thank God there not all gone. We dont have a 2nd amendment.
Clause 2: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. "
State and local laws are subordinate to the Constitution. End the attempts to bypass the constitution please.
Just look up gun control in the UK. Those people are crying they want their guns back and the police are saying the same thing there. The cops there say they only had bill clubs there until they implemented gun control and now they are armed to the teeth. They too say gun control does not work. The only way gun control can work is if they remove the black market for guns first. otherwise the criminals will be the only ones armed.
"The right of the people to keep and bear ... arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country ..."
every one of the people crying for gun controll has body guards that carry guns to protect them. don't be fooled by propaganda because there are many studies that prove more guns means less crime. Everywhere gun controll has been implimented has failed and gun violence went up. just look for the studies and stop relying on crooked politicians to tell you what is right and wrong.
i dont doubt you but i have never seen these studies can you send me a link......and if you are referring to kleck id like some other studies if you can. to make things clear i am pro gun and i want these studies to be able to use against the naysayers
