from what i know, all dyes can be found in the game, you find them through finding armour, if that armour has a colour you dont already have then that colour will be added to your dye list, the dyes are also bound to account so you wont have to do it with every character.
the "buy set" i would presume is part of the ingame story which would most likely just unlock all dyes for you.

As instead of purchasing dye bottles from a merchant npc, you have to unlock the dyes individually for your whole account as you explore the world. And don't worry about not having dyes unlocked, as in the beginning you start off with a decent set already to change the color of your gear however way you like.

But though GW2 aren't waste time compare to WoW seriously as mention Arena Net aiming more "casual players' than "hardcore players" as it seems. @ExoWahid sure it is, i'm the same ^^ and even when 200 people have the same armor, 170 of them will have other colors and so they will look very different. i think it will be really awesome.

@ExoWahid The only info we have is that the beta will happen before the end of 2011. However, it is uncertain whether they mean closed beta or beta. It is unlikely that the game will also be released before the end of the end.

If in GW2 they announce raids then yes i believe it will be the end of wow but otherwise no.

@sl1cer I am going to do this as well. Ever new piece of gear I get I am not going to just "chuck away" because it might look ugly or not suite my armor set I want. But with the ability to colour them in various areas. You can make almost anything fit. Now every armor will have a place for somebody.
@MrBubbleKing To make it even better gw2 is making it so you can change the look of any new armor (if it has better stats) to the look of an old one with and item call a transmutation stone. So you don't have to run around wearing an armor that everyone else has just because of stats, you really can have your own personalized armor.
@OrlyYarlyOwl Funny thing is that there was a blog at the time after this demo convention some time back that mentioned the dye colors we've seen on the demo were only a tiny handful of the array of colors they had already made. As they didn't want people spending too much time on the interface rather than seeing more of the gameplay, they had to reduce it to an essential small amount. lol And even crazier news on that same blog is that they mentioned having ideas for 100s more in the future.
@UnitedGuilds i believe i heard that you don't start with every dye. you have to unlock them but once you unlock them (however they have you unlock it), they become unlocked to your character and you can use them for free
@UnitedGuilds As others have said you must first unlock the dyes (and from the way they've said it sounds as though it's account-wide) and there are going to be at least 250 different colors. Awesome, right?

@bradalfk You unlock sets of dye in game or you can buy some via micro transactions but all races start off with a dye set so the moment you start playing you can change your gear colour (also you can use dye again and again and again) :D
@bradalfk Dyes are unlockable for your entire account, all of which you have to unlock as you go through the game but with options such as simply buying them from the in-game store. And as MrMowi28 said, you already have a decent amount of colors when you start off, especially those that accentuate the race you chose.
@YOYOdaMOOSE Yeah right, there was like 10 colors max and you had to pay for everything fucking dye. AND there was only 1 slot to dye one piece of armor. Stop being a douche, this system is WAY better than the other one and it cost nothing, that's the best part.
I think that maybe everyone is just going to choose full black dyed clothes, i probably prefered it when only the fairly rich got to walk around like a pimp in black armour.... :D

Nobody's mentioned the Natural Metallic or Natural Leather color sets. It's sweet enough that each piece can be dyed 3 different colors but also having the option to make armor sets or pieces dull or shiny. He didn't choose leather in the demo so I don't know if it's just opposite of metallic or an actual leathery texture. Pretty cool though. Lots of customazation. Can't wait...

i wish this game had more things- mounts, fractions, world pvp anywhere in the world with the opposing fraction not just one designated world pvp area ect, i feel theres more they could have done. if this game had that i would play it 24/7

You have to "unlock" dyes for you account.
Similar to how you unlock skills and other things for Guildwars 1.
There is also A larger amount of dyes then in Guidwars 1 .

@YOYOdaMOOSE Yeah right, there was like 10 colors max and you had to pay for everything fucking dye. AND there was only 1 slot to dye one piece of armor. Stop being a douche, this system is WAY better than the other one and it cost nothing, that's the best part.

I think that maybe everyone is just going to choose full black dyed clothes, i probably prefered it when only the fairly rich got to walk around like a pimp in black armour.... :D

@M0CKTHEGEEK Ok, I'm a Guild Wars 2 Fanboy :P but let's be serious here... WoW won't ''die'' by any other hands than Blizzard itself. With 12Million people playing a game. It''ll be hard to bring it down. What I hope for is that we steal some of their customers!! Not necesseraly breaking the machine apart, but taking some parts off making it insecure.

@M0CKTHEGEEK Also have to remember that (in my opinion) If Blizzard thinks that GW2 will kill WoW, they will make it free to play, and the 12million player will become something like 18million in a few years. WoW got the experience, but we, Guild Wars 2 fan, got a good and better game!

Nobody's mentioned the Natural Metallic or Natural Leather color sets. It's sweet enough that each piece can be dyed 3 different colors but also having the option to make armor sets or pieces dull or shiny. He didn't choose leather in the demo so I don't know if it's just opposite of metallic or an actual leathery texture. Pretty cool though. Lots of customazation. Can't wait...

I played GW for 5 yrs, had 2 accounts, finished the game with more than one of every prof. I got totally burnt out, and now I've played WoW for almost 2 yrs, and wondering if I'll go back to GW2.
Any WoW player that talks shit about GW has never played it, it's a great game. However, you can't blame me or others for being skeptical about GW2 since beta was originally set for 2008 (so we were told), and we waited as long as we could.

i wish this game had more things- mounts, fractions, world pvp anywhere in the world with the opposing fraction not just one designated world pvp area ect, i feel theres more they could have done. if this game had that i would play it 24/7

@Drmilkman85 There is no opposing faction tho since during the time period all races have to band together to fight the elder dragons i guess an opposing faction would be the corrupt monsters but thats about it and they arent playable

mmo is an mmo dont matter what it looks like how it feels or what the player base is like as long as you like it then thats fine i have played alot of mmos first one was wow played it for like 6 months and got bored not becos of it being out dated just becos there are to many kids on it then moved to rf online what i was on for 2 years played gw1 for a week lol just never got in to it much same with aion beta played lots more mmos over the years but now am just w8ing for gw2
