It starts off a little hoaky, but suprisingly, the intro ended up exceeding my expectations. It's not taking itself too seriously, which is refreshing. I was entertained! Not bad.
License To Kill holds up well to repeat viewings. The villain is one of the best in the entire series, and I love the films black humour as well as Mexican flavour. As for Timothy Dalton, I think he gave a brilliant performance as bond. He took the right approach by not copying the styles of his predecessors. There are 6 Connery films and 7 Moore films to see and there is no need for me to see another actor do that style again. By Dalton's unique approach, he stands as a bond in his own class.
Licence To Kill is one of my favorite Bond films. Dalton was stunning agent 007 and Carey Lowel & Talisa Soto were amazing Bond girls. The main villain was no less impressive plus very young Del Toro and superb soundtrack songs from gorgeous Gladys Knight & Pattie LaBelle. What's not to like?
I'm a huge Bond fan but I've never liked LTK and the trailer is indicative of my reasons. The production looks cheap, like a TV movie, and the dialogue is flat(except where Sanchez is concerned). Bond looks ridiculous standing on the plane and the parachuting into the wedding is ludicrous. And couldn't they find a better choice for Leiter's bride than that chick from 'Three's Company???'
@58fenix I thought Dalton was great in TLD but in LTK, something is off that I can't quite put my finger on. It may be that the cheap look of the overall production also makes Dalton look cheap. Also, Dalton's Bond often looks afraid, like in the bar fight (a terrible scene anyway) and later in Sanchez's coke facility. And they should have given Dalton a good 'mano y mano' fight scene with Dario.
@58fenix I never thought anyone could top Connery but now, my favorite is Craig. He's tough and he's a great actor that approaches the role seriously. Here's my list:
my favorite bond film because it was different. bond wasn't going after some mad man trying to take over the world but he quit being an agent to go after someone for personal reasons, this set it aprat from the rest of the series and in my opinion made it better.
As far as the bad guys go in Bond films Sanchez seemed to have the most malice, cold killer, and the drug dealer angle gives the story some relevence to the real life problem of drug lords
Not really...Goldeneye went through years of "production hell" and by the time they could get it off the ground Dalton's contract was up. He served the years he signed on to do, so I can't really blame him for just doing two films. But you got the admit License To Kill is an amazing Bond film.
Fucking amazing film. It had to have come down to this. Allows substance over style, for once. Rips Bond's heart out and sends him over the edge - Dalton was exhilirating and magnificent in this film - a true maverick. It was a stroke of genius to bring Q in halfway through when things became especially bleak.
@GrappendeGrapjas You are totally correct on this ! Dalton was indeed the best Bond every ! This new guy, Daniel Craig is not too bad but Dalton was the best.
@GrappendeGrapjas Moore was the best ...but Dalton definitely would be my second, i thought he was the best bond compared to Brosnon and that guy they got now, they SUCK.
Excellent Bond movie, excellent performance by Dalton, he was superb, still Connery's at the top, but dont forget little dalton hehe.
I think he just needed a bit more agression in the action sequences, that could have made him equal with connery, and as for craig.....erm cough cough....
This is one of the slickest of the Bond films. Everything was done so well. Nice plot, nice villain, the Spanish Bond girl is gorgeous, Dalton is one of the best Bond's and a great title tune. Superb stuff.

I didnt care for this Bond film so much. I think the timing was off and it coud have been better written, seemed a bit rushed. However, I always thought Timothy Dalton was a one of the best Bonds. A bought a realism to the role that had been missing. It's a shame audinces never gave him a chance cause they thought he had stolen Brosnan's spot when in reality Dalton had been sought for years and considered to take over for Connery at age 22 if I am not mistaken, but he turned it down.

Della is an annoying twit, just like Barnes' character in 'Three's Company.' She also seems to have an unhealthy affection for Bond, slobbering all over him during the wedding festivities. yeah! I liked his movies so much, I think he is better than Moore, and just as good as connery! (Not to say I didn't like them; if it's Bond, then I'm a fan :)
Those of you that don't like Timothy Dalton as James Bond do need to understand he wanted to make James Bond as close to the books as possible. He did make James Bond more human and more of an anti hero as his mission from MI6 did not always come first as he wanted to avenge his friend Felix Leiter.
Quite frankly, if I were to have a romantic tryst with Sanchez's girl, I would have way more than one dude with a machine gun sleeping at the stairway.
Are you positive their on this DVD because i thiught that the Bond people would never let them out of their valts at Pinewood, do you have the Ultimate Edition DVD with them to tell me for sure, because i havn't got them yet, hopefully Xmas! lol!
Oh right, okay then! Thank you very much for letting me know, you see i still only got the special edition DVD's from about the time The World Is Not Enough came in 1999, think i should update about now though! lol! Thanks again!
Like other people have said, Timothy Dalton was definately the closest resembelance to James Bond in the novels by Ian Flemming. This & Goldeneye are my fav bond films, LTK has everything & is different but the way its done in the film is excellent and if i am right when LTK first came out in the UK it was rated a 15 wasnt it? Which makes this the most violent Bond ever released to date.
great start to a bond film... Timothy Dalton is very under-rated...

I'm a huge bond fan, Timothy Dalton was seriously underrated. By far my favorite.

yeah! I liked his movies so much, I think he is better than Moore, and just as good as connery! (Not to say I didn't like them; if it's Bond, then I'm a fan :)

I definitely agree on both.

Those of you that don't like Timothy Dalton as James Bond do need to understand he wanted to make James Bond as close to the books as possible. He did make James Bond more human and more of an anti hero as his mission from MI6 did not always come first as he wanted to avenge his friend Felix Leiter.

I really´, really enjoied the movie, but it reminded me more of an 80s Cop movie than of a bond movie.

I have every one of the Ultimate Edition Bond DVDs. Yes, EVERY FILM including License to Kill is uncut.
H30Studios: Can't you just upload them to Youtube lol?

Quite frankly, if I were to have a romantic tryst with Sanchez's girl, I would have way more than one dude with a machine gun sleeping at the stairway.
slaveofgod316 3 years ago
The guard falling asleep on the job ruined the romantic tryst. His machine gun was useless!
slaveofgod316 3 years ago
Does anyone know where i can fine the uncut deaths of the guard's head exploding and also Rico's leg being diced in the grinder?
saintjimmi192 3 years ago
You would have to buy the Ultimate Edition DVD of License to Kill to view those scenes.

Are you positive their on this DVD because i thiught that the Bond people would never let them out of their valts at Pinewood, do you have the Ultimate Edition DVD with them to tell me for sure, because i havn't got them yet, hopefully Xmas! lol!

Best Timothy Dalton movie!

Timothy Dalton was good as Bond but I'm not sure if he was Bond himself.
Sanchez was a likeable villain throughout the film.

Timothy Dalton was the best 007

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Timothy Dalton were/are James Bond....
Daniel Craig has LOWERED the bar for 007...an ugly ass, short actor plus no charisma
Craig copies Dalton's style and the dummy movie goers don't know the history of James Bond films.
Sure Craig and the films made big bucks for franchise because there are crappy shit films in 2008 so no competition...
What's the difference between Jason Bourne and Daniel Craig's James Bond? None

I was noticed that in casino royal, he reminded me of dalton, am glad someone else noticed.

I see that too. But Roger Moore is a gay pansy. lol. Red head woosy.
Nothing against redheads though.

There was talk of it having to be edited to get it down from an 18 to a 15! there's a thought!

One of the best pre-title credit sequences, and the best song since Spy who loved me. Dalton is the romantic bond. Better than Brosnan at least.
