Oh mofongo! Love it! My friends and I are all living here in the states, so each time we go home we seek for mofongo, rice and pigeons peas, lechon (roasted pork), medalla (beer), and pasteles (banana dough dish). Love it!
@11you11 My friend the mixture he puts on the meat is called "ADOBO" not sazon. In Puerto Rico what we usually do is use already mix ADOBO, this simplifies the whole cooking/seasoning process.
There a place in Jacksonville call El Palermo Restaurant that do the Mofongo with a 76 pound pilon imported from Guavate PR. You guys have to search it on Facebook
shrimp mofongo is the best!!!! this made me hungry...lucky that in Puerto Rico you can get this almost right next door to everywhere!!!! i know what im having for lunch... yummyyyyyy
Benji, congratulations on your business. Un saludo de una companera de la escuela. Hopefully I will go eat there one day! I know that you can only make the best food, direct from Cabo Rojo, the best town in Puerto Rico. Jennie Perez
Wow, wonder why my comment was deleted..maybe I didn't let it process ??
I finally ate there, that damn Guy Fieri is lucky he can see the chef at work. All in all yes recommended, on Sunday it's empty and really fast service, food is freshhh and the sauce it's like chumichurri however you spell it..but even more tang. The salt everything is done just right, this place will fill your belly up smooth !!
I gotta tell I never been to this restaurant but I cant stress enough if anyone hasnt tried MOFONGO...its a recommended dish that everyone should try. its the best of the best!! Im puertorican so my family makes it around thanksgiving and christmas time....but like I said try it ...its something out of this world.
I'm lucky enough to travel all over the United States for work. After seeing this place on DDD, me and my co-worker went straight from the airport to Benny's. They were out of shrimp, so I opted for the Mofongo con Chicharrón de Pollo. It was AMAZING!!!! These are good people that serve great food. Can't wait to work again in South Florida.
That sounds good, I'd love the shrimp one.

I tried it it's not all that good, I find it greasy and expensive $20 for an order.
