I find it interesting how, in the US, the weapon regulations are relatively loose and people spend up to $50 on a "decent" magazine, yet here in the UK, where not many people own 5.56mm weapons, I picked up a H&K NATO (AR-15/SA80) magazine for £10. Those are the same magazines that the British armed forces are currently using.
i just want to say, that it is super illegal do that in Puerto Rico island, to get a 9mm you have to pay 3,000 dollar for the licence thanks to the politicians in the senate, they have heavy weapons, but there a lot of killing thanks to illegal arms
its ironic that they show a commercial for 20 and 30 round clips but Clinton banned every rifle c;lip to just ten rounds nut you can still finds pre-ban clips but they will cost a lot
I understand the stainless spring would be less corrosive, but, would it retain its springiness as well as the regular spring steel? The qualities are much different and sometimes the benefit of stainless is out weighed by benefits of other steel. I know that stainless knives don't sharpen as easy as carbon steel knives, also it seems there would be more flexibility in the carbon steel metal. And is it true that mags can be left loaded to capacity for years without losing tension?
You are correct; in general carbon steels make better springs when it comes to resisting set and storing energy. If the mag spring has a good heat treatment it can potential be stored for years in a compressed condition with no adverse effects. On the other hand stainless steel can be made into a fine spring, and is the current Military Specified Requirement for AR-15 magazines.
Yes and No. An AR-15 traditionally has a fixed stock and a 20" barrel. The M-4 designation tells you that you have a collapsible stock and either a 14-1/2 or a 16" barrel.
Brownells does not manufacture AK-47 or AK-74 magazines. Brownells does have polymer magazines for the AK-47made by TAPCO available in black, flat dark earth and olive drab green, with 30 round capacity.
it's nice to see BROWNELLS answering messages with accurate part numbers, unlike MidwayUSA which does not answer let alone list part numbers. well done BROWNELLS

why wouldnt they use a stainless follower?
seems like its the part that would take the most wear
NamelessFTW 3 years ago
The springs and feed lips are really the only things that wear out... followers don't wear out.

Stainless followers are available as an optional purchase.
