if they kid had really died, then his ghost should come over the burned hay and find there in the middle of the fire and what's left after a couple of hours the body of the kid or at least hisbones, in this way the audience will be able to realize that the kid was really dead. and the ending will me much crepier. however I assume the kid at the end was not dead at all and somehow he did manage to escape.

@maddogz1303 Well, it's a film done on a level that requires a pretty extensive crew. For this kind of film, they need to be able to find and cast actors, scout a location, secure said location, procure all the necessary paperwork to use said location, maintain pay stubs for all of the cast and crew, have people build the giant haystack, and be able to get the funding to do all of what I just mentioned.

I mean, it looked like it was shot on a Red, so they had to have a budget.
