  • Que maravilla!, Trio Kinsa, I am Peruvian and I'm so proud to hear my music interpreted in such a classical style. There are more beautiful Peruvian pieces that you should explore, such as my favorite: "Amanecer Andino"..it's a masterpiece..I think you would do a fantastic job with it. Have you recorded a CD of Peruvian music? I hope you're thinking about it. T

  • WOW

  • haunting yet beautiful

  • I have this exact clarinet on order, and this video makes me want it sooner!

All three players here are most excellent.

  • Mr. Mazzini and trio, what an amazing piece and performance! I am an orchestral clarinetist here in the US, and I'm amazed at the beautiful and controlled tone you achieve on the contrabass. I stuck with the high end of the clarinet family- the Bb and Eb. I am always impressed with lower end clarinetists, as I just couldn't manage the jaw control with that much vibration.

You are my new favorite clarinetist!

  • @believetheunseen Thank you very much for your kind words. I love playing all kind of music and well, I have some preference for low sounds - and I think the contrabass clarinet mix very well with the cello. Greetings from Perú!

  • @marcomazzini mr.Mazzini, have you ever done this with a double bass instead of a cello? i think the outcome would be quite impressive, however this was splendid.

  • Fantastic.....

  • @LaceratedBalls thank you!!!!

  • Fantastico, Muah, Buenisimo!!!!

  • @bobo123958 GRACIAS!!!!

  • @bobo123958 Thank you very much!!!

  • Thank you!

  • Gorgeous!!!

  • The Contrabass Clarinet almost sounds like a string bass.

  • Most amazing how well the cello and contrabass clarinet work together! So much on here with the contrabass clarinet is amateur or novelty so it's amazing to hear a serious work that sounds Peruvian by way of Japan. Bravo, Brava!

  • there are some chinese stuff going out out there.....don.t like it in this context !

  • ehhh i play bass clarinet. i want to switch

over it but i dont have enough money to buy one :) holy crap thats a low instroment. the bass clarinets E on the lowest octave is the contrabass's E on the middle octave. wow its really deep

  • Amazing! The high notes almost sound like a clarinet!! I hope to try a contrabass sometime :)

  • @Enanram Thank you very much!!!

  • Hola Marco, está buenazo el video. Creo que sería muy importante poner el nombre del autor de la obra. Un abrazo!

  • Musica de Huanuco. El mismo autor de El Condor Pasa.

  • Awesome music! Very inspiring! :-)

  • Fantastica musica ,sui generis(unica en su genero) Mis sinceras felicidades Marco, eres un artista unico.

    Felicitaciones...

  • Really Beautifull!!!!!!!! :)

  • Great, simply great and so powerfull!

  • Thanks for your kind comment!

  • Great!

  • haahahha i love how the guy on piano (near the begining) is so inventive that he's plucking the piano strings, very creative!!

  • I love the contra clarinet since, very young, I heard the 5 pieces for orchestra of Schoemberg. Esta muy bien tocado, groso.

    F.

Saludos,

    Marco Antonio

  • Wow, this is nice. I have one of these contrabass clarinets that I'm resurrecting from the grave right now (highly abused by its previous owner, wasn't in working condition when I got it) and when it works, it sounds great, but getting there is quite a challenge. In particular, the octave key mechanism has some serious issues just in its design. How do you get the secondary octave key to sit closed tightly when the lower notes G and below are being played?

  • Beautiful. The ContraBass Clarinet sounds lovely in its top register

  • Thanks!!!

  • thats cool i have the same clarinet but i play in a band class

  • Thanks!

  • Eso fue hermoso, muy bello.

  • what type of contra is that i have a e and its not that big

  • Its just a Bb contrabass clarinet, made by Selmer. Very common instrument.

  • its a Bb contrabass clarinet, the Eb is called the contalto clarinet.

  • thanks for sharing this!

  • My pleasure...

  • Fantástico.

    5*

  • Gracias!

  • the piano part at around 2 minutes reminds me of Debussy.

  • bravo!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • titanic?

  • I'm a little confused - you say that, in this version, the baritone sax is replaced by a cello. However, there are places where the cello is playing WAY above the range of a bari sax. How could this cello part have been originally played on a bari sax?

  • Good question with a simple answer: since I re-adapted the baritone sax part for the cello, it will be a bit boring to let the cello play the very same thing as the bari did - so I added some glissandos and placed some passages one octave higher, while I play one octave lower. In this way the piece is more interesting for the cello and the sound gets a bit more "spacy". Thanks a lot for your question.

  • when someone arranges music to be played on an instrument that it wasn't written for(like arranging something to piano) do they keep everything exactly the same? no. they will usually add a few or alot of different things to it.

  • That's correct! In this case, there is a big introduction (which is not the original, with the piano hitting the strings) and a lot of new voices - and of course, the harmony is very different from the original. Thanks for your comment!

  • So amazing the music you three play, and I must say its very original ad refreshing to hear the contrabass clarinet in such a small setting - finally used as a real voice! Great playing, wonderful music, five stars.

  • complementi, bellissimo.

  • this video makes me want a contrabass clarinet lol. i love them, but i've never even seen one in person :[ and i unfortunately don't have the $15,000+ it costs to buy one haha

  • If you buy one that's made out of wood. Plastic contras are much cheaper than wood ones.

  • that song is beautiful! I play bass clarinet and i love to hear the low contrabass notes. They did an excellent job!

  • Thats a super-huge clarinet. Can anyone suggest another name for it?

  • Uh, contrabass? It's in the title.

  • Great tone, beautiful music !!! Congrats !!!

  • QUE HERMOSO CLARINETE

  • your contra tone is really good, unlike some monsterous ones on youtube. it works well w/ cello.

  • Thanks!!

  • The Contra-bass clarinet version really outshines the bass clarinet version of this song, although I love playing my low C bass.

  • That was awesome. The contrabass clarinet is by far my favorite instrument to play.

  • mtooo bacana mesmo!!!

  • Extraordinaria versión, mil felicitaciones! el clarinete contrabajo suena super!!

  • if only i had like 20,000 dollars!!!

  • THAT IS FRICKEN GINOURMOUS I HAVE ONLY SEEN A Bb CLARINET WHICH I PLAY THATS A FLIPPIN WHALE!

    ALSO GREAT JOB

  • Brilliant!

  • you guys, have played in Deinze, Don't you ?

  • Almost... the pianist (Ward) and me (Clarinet) played in Deinze but as Thelema Trio. Thanks for watching!

  • ahahah fighissimo marco!!!

  • Gracias!!!

  • my grandfather has a ocotocontra bass clarinet in BBBb

  • Is your grandfather Mr. Leblanc?

Anyway, if you're serious, could you post a video of it please? I'm really curious to actually see one other than on a blurry picture, let alone hear it!

  • WOW!!!

  • ENVIOUS!

I've never been able to get my hands on a contrabass. I'm a contralto player.

  • Close enough! I've never touched a contralto clarinet!

  • The timbre of the contrabass meshes with the cello extremely well; very pleasing to the ear. Great job!

  • The theme has a vaguely Japanese sound. Am I even close? The contrabass has a rich tone.

  • You recognise some Japanese flavour because this composition is based in a pentatonic scale - all the themes are just five notes. Specially the first part, I do hear some oriental sound....but this is Peruvian music! Thanks for your comment.

  • is contrabass in Bb? Eb?

  • It's Bb. :)

  • so it's a whole OCTAVE below bass?!

    Far out!

I thought my fancy low Eb on my bass was low...

  • that's right, Bb contrabass, Selmer (cool music by the way!)

  • i play alto clarinet becuse its in beteween

    Bb and bass clarinet

  • This is just beautiful. All I can say is WOW. I used to play contrabass and miss it so much.

  • i play the contra bass clarinet at mt carmel high school i love it it has a sound that no other instroment can offer

  • thanks for your comment. I agree, the contrabass clarinet has a very deep, rich sound. Greetings,

  • Amazing! seethis video makes me want to play the Contrabass Clarinet! im still in school, but i play the Bass Clarinet, i started on Bflat Clarinet, then i went to Alto Clarinet, and now i am on Bass Clarinet, but this video is just amazing!

  • Thanks Roger, Im sure you will soon pick up the contrabass clarinet, such a beautiful instrument. I see you are already busy with so many clarinets...thanks for watching.

  • So original...powerful music and wonderful performance. Please upload more! Congratulations, very inspiring.

  • Awesome Contra-Bass Clarinet, those Selmers are so nice, but expensive.

  • "those Selmers are so nice, but expensive"....you got that right!

  • Beautiful song, love the Cello Contra combo. (Nice Contra by the way.)
