  • It's very clear explain of FP Shutter and X-sync.

  • This is by far the most comprehensive and intelligent discourse on shutter sync. Well done, sir! I will be referring many photographers to this video.

  • Thank you Paul - great explanation and tutorial, one of the best I've seen on Youtube. I hope there will be more to come. Happy New Year.

  • this is awesome... xD but id like to hear how its like... when u are using flash triggered studio flashes... there is a part of a milisecond delayed studio flash after the oncamera flash so if u use faster shutterspeed u might get nothing fromt he studio light... id like to hear what you think

  • You reminded me of a great teacher in my school, who used to teach just the way things should be tought. Lovely work!!

  • The Internet - Educating the masses!

A question for you: can we use the Canon 580ex ii as wireless in manual mode or only ETTL?

  • Simply amazing!

    Thank you very much!

There are so many videos out there that omit any technical details. You included everything! Absolutely fantastic!

  • Great explanation!!! Well done

  • Well done Paul. Have you considered doing a shutter speed test showing how 1/500th a second on a digital camera is not the same as 1/500th a second on a film camera? This became a noticeable problem after switching to digital. I began having significant issues with freezing football action after making the switch in 2002.

  • @dazwhit that's interesting. I would think that 1/500 is 1/500th of a second no matter what equipment. (and I am not sarcastic)

  • thanks for tis one!

  • Paul,

I really appreciate the time you took to put this video together. Excellent production

  • Thanks a lot ! I was actually wondering why there was this black part on the pictures with fast shutter speeds.

  • Excellent tutorial, I now really understand high speed sinc and second curtain.

    Kind regards

  • Excellent video tutorial. The best that I have seen on this subject on all of Youtube! I appreciate all the time and effort you and your staff did to make this video.

I do have a question with regards to second curtain synch. Does your camera and flash limitations that you mentioned in the begining of the lesson (e.g. 1/250 of a second) apply to second curtain synch? If so what effects would you get if you exceed the shutter speed of your flash if in second curtain synch?

    Meltdownman

  • This is an awesome explanation. Thank you.

  • Great video!

  • Thanks, my camera will not let me go above 1/200 if the flash is up. Canon T1i....I guess they did it to protect us from ourselves, but I would like to experiment. Even in M or TV it does this. Thanks again.

  • Hi, Paul. Your very good work!

  • thanks for video

I wonder why Canon or nikon doesn't make a electronic shutter dslrs, that would be fantastic camera to use with small flashes in bright daytime

  • Great teaching and superb illustration Paul - please keep up the good work!
