some americans have very little knowledge about another countries outside. I once watched "who wants to be a millionaire" in US when I was visiting Los Angeles, there's this man who managed to answer all questions even the very hard ones, but when there's a question "what is Australia national language" he said passed & wanted to stop there since he didn't know the answer. Since then I have this stereotype that americans don't know much about the other countries outside the Americas.

On some level, I want Josef Fritzl to suffer in the most horrible ways imaginable.
On another level, I'd prefer that the whole thing never have happened at all, because causing the father to suffer wouldn't fix the real horror of this story, which is the very idea of a woman being imprisoned in that room for 24 years.

That part is not correctly reported in this documentary. Elisabeths sister Gabriele revealed to the media that her reunion with her mother happened in the hospital. Elisabeth said upon seeing her mother " I can't believe I'm free, is it really you?" The two of them embraced for a long time, crying. The mother saying over " I'm so sorry, I didn't know..."

This is a horrible story. Its hard to imagine whats worse. Elisabeth who was imprisoned and raped by her own father. The three children also imprisoned who knew the circumstances. The children above who had no idea that their granfather was their father and their mother and unknown siblings were beneth them, or the grandmother now knowing what her husband did. It's such an amazingly horrible story.

Apparently, noises COULD be heard from the cellar but the residents took no notice. And their were hardly any sects in Austria, so they could have investigated her disappearance. Most sects want mothers to keep their children, not give them away, they should have looked into it.

i want the himshot, but hes being punished, hes going to spend the rest of his life in a psychiatric ward. where he will be studied on a daily basis and hopefully well learn what makes a person like him tick. so that we can prevent those kind of people from existing in the future. so that no one ever has to go through something like this again! to just throw him in prision and to make no attempt to learn what made him the monster he is, thats foolish. and it doesnt work to solving the problem.
