I had a bad incounter with mosquitos this year.I wanted to go out on the lake at night with my wife in our canoe to this island in the middle. About a 20 min at a good speed. I was getting the odd bite here and there but when we got to the island it was SWARMING with mosquitos, they attacked us so much so all at once that i almost tipped the boat.And from that moment we were on a mad dash to get back, it was almost impossible to paddle with them all buzzing and biting ours faces, not a good idea

coming from a rainforest setting myself (albiet a temperate rainforest but still bloody wet), i can attest that is it hard tos tart a fire, but not impossible if the person has the right training/ know-how. but in their situation is not the time to be experimenting. hence a small amount of practice and the right skills before hand can save your life

Berets, SEAL, and Marines are known to have been killed even at water rafting trips inside USA.
