You are SO right man! Grammys were much harder to earn back then. You just listen to MJ and his pure, unique golden voice. He made the difference, this is RAW talent! So unlike many dull todays "singers". It's sad to say but when I listen to him, lots of them are all the same... hardly creative, no moral force, all made and slaves to their record labels and that's all. Michael just oozed individuality and he didn't have to go to extreme lengths to attract ALL audiences.

MJ wrote most of his own song lyrics and even though he did not read music, would create it by singing each instrumental part including the harmony, to each band member. I doubt Elvis and the Beatles could do that man. He wrote poetry, prose and stories. He knew his way around just about every type of camera. He was not limited to music and dancing but an all-around great human being interested in all types of art. If you want to get to know an artist, you read their work.

@jayfey77 : he wrote most of his songs, plus this- jimi hendrix couldn't read music, john lennon and paul mccartney and also lionel richie can't but this doesn't make any sense, cuz they can/could still write music. my friend can't read music but she still plays piano. you are mistaken.. plus he beat-boxed his songs and wrote it this way and with beat-box's help he could create all the back harmonies,. and ELvis never write any music, i love his music, but he never wrote or even co-wrote.
