Economic surpluses... in eleven budgets they have managed to under predict ever budget surplus... either they can't count and are hence stupid or just sneaky... I don't like either option... and it is easy to have surplus after surplus after you introduce a tax system that you previously swore to NEVER EVER introduce ( GST )
If all GST revenues went into state budgets, how can the federal govt. keep cutting personal income tax rates with an ageing population and still record surpluses ? Its mis-direction from them, as usual, at least they are gone now
Do you really think that the GST is the ONLY tax there is? There is income tax, & other taxes that the Federal govt keeps. Yet everyone knows that ALL GST revenue goes to the states. This is fact. No wonder LIEbor got in with ignoramouses such as yourself, who don't even understand GST or who gets it. Idiots like you are why LIEbor are allowed to fuck everyone over & give us recession and heartache. Sorry, but morons like you force us all to suffer for your ill-informed vote and suffer.
Yet these fuckwits below are allowed a vote! They vote Liebor in, and WE have to suffer for THEIR stupidity. There should be an IQ test for these idiots before they are allowed a say. Most Liebor supporters I have found are so uneducated, they can barely write English. Believing that the GST is actually counted in the surplus, is proof of how god-damn ignorant these fuckwits are. I hope there is a recession, and they lose their homes & go bankrupt, so these fucking numbnuts are taught a lesson.
@SalemSaberhagen1 actually, 10% of the GST, or about $25 billion, goes into the federal governments coffers, and $25 billion dollars makes up about 8% of the federal budget, a considerable amount. also, the money the fed gives to the states from the GST they usually get back by just giving less grants from income tax anyway. it is amazing how fucking stupid you liberals are. furthermore, howard was the highest taxing government ever, more than whitlam! keating was the lowest. labor = win
keating wanted the GST but he was too gutless to get hawkie to accept it - then he pretends he doesn't want it when hewson wants it

You are overly simplist and ultimately wrong!
If something was shown to be a bad idea in the 1980s, why would Keating support it in the 1990s?
