While Behind the Door was well played... I've gotta say the pianists interpretation of Tifa's theme was a bit lackluster... she almost sounded like she had to pull back on her emotion sometimes because she didn't know the song perfectly. Also, Gawdy outfit is gawdy.

The 2 themes give a pretty different feeling, IMO (just like the 2 girls are different from each other... and have a different destiny... Tifa's theme sounds sweet and melancholic... like a sad unrequited love song *that's why this theme is perfect for piano... or for jazz maybe*... and Aerith's theme conveys the character's bright personality, the strong will, the tragedy but also the hope). Love them both.

I used to think that too but honestly I hafta disagree with you. Have y?ou replayed it lately? Just got done a replay and the system is pretty weak compared to the others. Don't get me wrong I LOVE FF7 with all my heart but honestly there are quite a few RPGs from that era that are better. I've been playing RPGs since the 80's so I'm not just talking outta my ass here. I think I loved it so much cause it was such a jump from the old FF's. But if you really look at it it's lacking in many areas.

Tifa's theme is a vastly underated tune.

Im in the middle of playing Final Fantasy XII,its a good game...but the soundtrack is abysmal compared to previous games.

During Final Fantasy VII was happy to just stay in a town and listen to the music.

I'd love to see one of these orchestras do the Cosmo Canyon theme-another hidden gem!

yes essentially nobuo stepped down at Square-Enix because he felt it was time to pass the torch to the younger composers there. he's now working with Mistwalker with some of Square's original people. i've heard very good things about his latest music for "Lost Odyssey"

seriously? then you are not an ff fan, because all the games after 9 have lost their original ff feel. I hate when people say 12 is the best as well, considering it is the WORST final fantasy out there. thin characters, virtually no plot, the music is HORRIBLE (minus a few gems, Angela Aki's song for one). It's really too bad, those games made my childhood amazing. RIP.

"not an ff fan"? I would have thought being a fan of later game sin the series as well made you an FF fan too. By the way I am an avid follower of Final Fantasy and am a video game composer myself now because of them, and I think FFXII is the best apart from perhaps FFVIII.

I have played IX more than any though..I just love the characters in it so much. And Behind that Door (or Towards That Gate as I know it)is an amazing piece.

the big problem with twelve is the charchters obviously they perfected the graphics and battle system for the ps2 but they gave way too much up in the area of charchters!!!i mean the only half way interesting one is balthier and he isn't that great! the best overall game in my opinion is 9!!!
