  • I really want to get that comic book font, but when I went to the cite and got it I didn't know what to do with it, if you can could you explain what im supposed to do with it, or if Im supposed to download the other files. (I use a windows xp) Thank you!!! :)

  • Thanks, huge help

  • Thank you Barry. Easy to follow in Photoshop Elements 8.

  • nice tutorial! but to make the outline for the bubbles you could use the wand tool and then use Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection and then stroke with the outline on the outside

  • Thanks!

  • I have searched and can't find the colorbook font. Any Ideas where I can find it?

  • @judy4176 Hi Judy. It's comic book font. And I bought it ... somewhere? A long time ago. I can't quite remember. But there are sites like blambot.com that have well priced (and even free) comic book related fonts.

  • This video is amazingly clear for 360p and there is no need for a high def version of this and it was very helpful. Thanks. Too bad this is from 3 years ago because I would love to know how this video was rendered before upload and I doubt you would even remember.

  • @jagawire420 I think I did this before HD was a standard. But part of the trick is I set my machine to the highest resolution I could get my monitor, and then moved everything in Photoshop into the upper left hand 1/4th of my screen. I was shooting for as clean and readable video as I could get, as most tutorials I saw, it was too hard to see the teeny, tiny tools the user was pointing to. I'm glad you found it helpful.

  • Oh, thank goodness. I've been trying to figure this out for months. I use Elements but, principally, it's the same thing. Thank you :)

  • You are a Genius! I'm working on 2 indy comic books and this was Extremely helpful! Thanks a MILLION!!! Awesome!

  • Thanks, best explanation I've seen yet.

  • dude, thnx man. i've been havin trouble figurin this out for my comics, so i've been doin' them freehanded. most informative, and helpful.

  • thanks man!

  • Thank you!

    It was so useful!^^

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I do have this tool but it's only square, not a circle ... what to do?

I'm new with photoshop and I am using Photoshop CS3 ...

  • @FiscalExpansion I think for all versions of Photoshop you can click and hold your mouse over the square and a small menu should pop up with additional shapes and tools (a circle being one of them). Hope this helps.

  • @TheInkTank Thanks a lot for your help! It works now! :)

And your tutorial is really good.

  • I miss this comic strip. Is that still alive?

  • Ah! This was very helpful, thanks a lot!

  • thanks alot

  • Thank you so much. This was wonderfully helpful!

  • awesome! thanks for this. Before I used to jump between programs fr. comic life to photoshop because of making balloons for comics. Now its gonna be much easier! 5 stars. XD

  • LOL! Thank you. I was having trouble and this is easy and totally RAD as you say. XD Thank you again!

  • Oh my gosh, thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I have been getting so sick of doing word balloons by hand, this will cut down on my time SO much. Thanks a bunch from an amateur comic artist!

  • omg thanx

  • thanks, very helpful.

  • Wow, this is a lot easier than the way I have been making balloons. The end result looks about the same, but it would be much quicker using your method and give me more freedom with the thickness of the outline. I have been using Photoshop for about ten years and there are still so many surprises lurking in those menus.

Thanks for the tips and Inktank is a kickass comic. Thanks for sharing your work!

  • Or you could just y'know, use ctrl+e (command+e) to merge the one layer down to the layer under it without having to hide all your other layers.

  • that's useful to know...

  • Interesting, but I haven't been able to see it the whole way through, this particular video is slightly corrupted and crashes my browser each time I try to view it.

  • RAD!!!:D

  • you just saved my life D:

thank you soo much this was very helpful :D

  • Thank you!

  • LOL. Very small...dogs!

  • Very interesant guy!!!! EXCELENT POST. Aprendi bastante tu tutorial. Congratulations!

  • Wow! I do my bubbles the exact same way. I'm glad my technique is also used by professionals. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Really useful for mu garry's mod comics!

    Thanks you!

  • Barry, great job for all us budding cartoonists out here! I'm so glad that you're back and active again!

  • I like having each balloon on it's own layer, but that's just personal taste. Good tutorial. =)
