  • 3:16... Dudley's going... He's going! That takes supreme skill to not cave under the need to laugh!

  • This is a brilliant sketch, wonderfully performed. I'm sure I remember seeing them doing a version of this where Dud changed "bloody Jane Russell" to "bloody Gina Lollobrigida" and it was Gina that he threw down the stairs with a "Get outta here, you brazen hussy!" And as for Greta Garbo, "She was stark naked, she was...except for her dark glasses, of course!" Brilliant!

  • Pete and Dud were excellent! Love it when Dud is trying desperately not to laugh. Gutted there are a lot of Not only but also tapes that were wiped by the BBC that we'll never get to see. )-: but love searching for Pete & Dud footage on you tube I might not have seen. (-:

  • I once had a drink with Peter Cook in Hampstead, London at the Dome 1989 I think!

  • @mcqueen5 No you didn't; you were so drunk that you only thought you did. It was really Betty Grable you were drinking with.

  • @KaptKan1

No it was Jane Russell !!!! LOL!!!

  • ♥ .

  • ironic how dudley took his drink with him...

  • @nigelreilly More ironic that Pete left his.

  • And now back to comments on the actual video: this is great ad lib. I've never seen it before. Thanks for posting Billy

  • You can see the inspiration for Harry Enfield's character in the pub who keeps having arguments meeting famous celebrities - "Oi, Houston, No!"

  • @vkman34 i was just thinking the same thing..Harry Enfield was 'very, very inspired' by this sketch :P

  • @rumadbro Harry freely admits being very influenced by Peter Cook, and why not? All comedians have their influences. Al least he didn't just completely steal the man's work and claim it as his own like David Frost did.

  • @jonnykarma7 Thanks for posting what I didn't have the guts to. I've never understood why Frost was knighted and Cook was not.

  • I loved watching these sketches again tonight...they were so funny. The best parts are when they are always trying not to laugh! Great! :-)

  • Classic, of course. But it's ironic that it''s Pete's drink that's left on the table. For all his problems, why wasn't Peter Cook knighted? Still, it doesn't change my laughter every time I watch it. Brilliant.

  • Awesome

  • love it when they crack up

  • Classic brilliance

  • Omg hilarious

  • Priceless!

  • is this improvised?

  • @zac6756 Totaly ! most of their stuff was, dont get comics like that anymore

  • This is superb comedy.

  • I've always loved this. Peter Cook is the first king of Comedy.

  • *smiles* That was great! Heaven rest their souls! :)

  • Notice how few cuts there are. Nowadays, comedy relies on severe editing to create the illusion of good comic interplay. But Cook and Moore had it down to a science. They make it look so easy. RIP.

  • you know how these bloody swedes go on

  • these two were a great inspiration for the whole Monty Python era.....

  • they were brill

  • I love this black and white footage of Derek and Clive. Would you believe I'd never seen this before?

  • These aren't the Derek and Clive characters. They came later.

  • I fort, funny, funny.

  • These guys are absolute classics. Can I have a dollar please?

  • lol, love it wen they start cracking up!

  • Bloody Mila Kunis won't leave me alone. I'm at me wit's end what to do about it.

  • Class clip just nice too see peter let Dudley go off on one

  • "Italian thing... that's a good thing to call em..."

    LOL

  • i love it when dud creases up!! lol!

  • I can understand,,, when I was going out with Angelina Jolie, ,,,well,,,,, (one can dream I suppose)

  • These are the best comic duo ever.

  • Laurel and Hardy run them close surely

  • It's a different type of humour. I never really found Laurel and Hardy funny but anything is better than Morecambe and Wise (in my opinion).

  • get atta here ya hussy

  • This is my favorite clip of these two so far :)))The moment when Peter starts telling it the second time and they try not to laugh is just hillarous :D

  • I LOVE when they try and make each other laugh, it's just too funny!!!

  • "Funny"

  • love em

  • "c'mon which cheek was 'et?"

"uh, it was tha left uppa!"

    this seamless riffing is priceless.

  • Bloody Pioneers in comedy! LOVE THEM!!

  • simply genius

  • tap tap tap at the bladdy window pane

  • I used to find these two (characters) so annoying but now I love them. <3
