When REAL musicians created there own songs using REAL instruments and their OWN voices and could actually play to a live audiance. They earned the right to be called "Music Artists" because they were ARTISTS! Unlike the corporate created and owned phonies running around today who all need a team of Audio engineers with computers, 25 outfit changes and 30 syncronised back-up gymnist dancers twerling fire sticks to a massive laser lights and fireworks show to hide the truth, they're talentless!
I remember this so well; i was a 13 yr old boy and it hit me like a bomb; i became a Blondie fan immediately and still am :) Saw her live in paradiso def, dumb&blonde tour. Awesome. Debbie in her prime certainly is the most beautiful woman i've ever seen. She was the first female rockstar who proved beauty&intelligence can go hand in hand without being a total bitch. Debbie irl has a warm, down to earth personality.
I hope the record industry wakes up and finds someone with the talent and appeal of a Debbra Harry. But with that silly American Idol and people from the street being MIDI ed and singin Kareoke, who have little to zero talent the possibilities are lackluster. Back in the day, the artists practiced, had venues to perform and grow, east coast, CBGB, west coast, truobador, roxie on and on, or even lesson;s at MIT musicians institute. Was this Debbie's response to criticisms that Blondie's music had gone from punk to Bubblegum? Thanks for posting, never seen this one before. Gee, how many times did they do "Denis" on TOTP, anyway?
This was Top Pop, not TOTP. Was it a German show? If I remember correctly, the first time was even more punk. They had monitors playing the DENIS video and Debbie rested her elbow on one and just glared down the TV cameras the whole 2.20 minutes without opening her mouth once!
