"True freedom is not advanced in the permissive society, which confuses freedom with license to do anything whatever and which in the name of freedom proclaims a kind of general amorality. It is a caricature of freedom to claim that people are free to organize their lives with no reference to moral values, and to say that society does not have to ensure the protection and advancement of ethical values. Such an attitude is destructive of freedom and peace."
"The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish".
this may sound silly but pope john paul ll strikes me as the grandfather type with his kind face and deeds. he certainly reminds of mine when he smiles
The punishement consisted of three different levels: the diocesan level, the episcopal conference level and the Vatican.
Pope John Paul II issued in a letter that "a sin against the Sixth Commandment of the Decalogue by a cleric with a minor under 18 years of age is to be considered a grave sin." Thus he made it aware that they were morally culpable.
To satisfy the temporal punishment of the crimes, while leaving the eternal punishment to God, Pope John Paul II, in most cases, made...
...Clerics who had abused children lose their rights to preside at the Mass, hear Confessions, etc. This was in an effort to curb this behavior in them.
As for Cardinal Law, I believe, even though I cannot know, that JPII brought him to the Vatican so that he could "keep a closer eye on him."
We both agree that the abuses were a terrible, dark stain on the Church. However, we must not make JPII culpable for the actions of the individual.JPII guides the Church, we must leave it up to God...
...in order to bring justice to the wrong-doers. The guilty parties will be held cupable for these crimes against the young - they will be held cupable to the highest powers.
Now, we must pray for Mother Church. We must recognize this as a speed bump, but never forget it; for in forgetting, we repeat.
Pray. Pray. Pray. God will prevail and there will be justice.
Right ON! When a nail is broken, all the body aches. So, these abuses hurt the whole body of holy church. The liberals are ready to make headway to their shady agenda, but I believe the people is prepares to counter them y resist them to the face. ORA ET LABORA. PAX CHRISTI.

James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader in Star Wars. Does that make it true? So why invoke voice actors as if this conveys credibility by their name?

I disagree. He presided over the gigantic sexual abuse and allowed to go forward. I pray that God forgives him, but a saint, no.

Are you not aware of the "smackdown" that he laid on the American Cardinals/Bishops in 2003?

Moving Cardinal Law to Rome as a "punishment"? Hardly a smackdown.
But narrow it down, please.
