As far as I remember the reaction was nothing like what I saw on the news in NY on 9\11. People weren't panicked or alarmed or anything. Got to remember the UK had lived with the IRA on their doorstep for 30 years.
I was there that day. I got evacuated from Euston and was just around the corner from where the bus bomber set off his device. Never forgotten the sound of that bomb going off. The American guy was right. That is pretty much what happened. The London streets were more or less empty within an hour, and mobile phone networks were crashing under the weight of calls.
@toxic2k7 The British government are thick, they lack the intelligence to co-ordinate a Christmas party. So they would not have the the intelligence create a terrorist attack.

In my opinion, this is Britain's version of 9/11, except this tragedy was underground and there weren't that many deaths.
