I have not been here to listen i was so busy , oh yes keeping my hobby going i will be back who are you? i do love the sounds so high pitched do you have more imformation on the backgroud singer? love to hear more
I hear a very high pitch in this song is it one of the four tops or a back ground singer? It sounds so wonderful so clear , this is singing no mixtures of machcine to change the tone of their voices ohhhhhhhhhh
I've been listening to your posts endlessly...I love the nice clean and full sound that you've captured....you'd think you were listening on those old fashioned Wurlitzer juke boxes...they just sound terrific!!
i played this song off there greatest hits alb. 'til the grooves wore out..no better harmony than this and 'Ask the lonely'.the Tops were a rare find for their craft.

Walnuts52....... You are so so right ......this is my all time favorite 4 tops song ...it just is so simple yet perfect......thanks for posting this great great song of the 60s cant go back and relive it .....wait a minute maybe I can.......
Can I ask a simple question without getting flamed, no matter how I concentrate on hearing the background vocals, I'm sure I can hear a female. If I'm correct, who is she?
@seyley i got the same feeling you do about hearing a female in the back ground vocal.i am going to google it to see if i can find out about it.i will let ya know if i find anything.
@seyley The Andantes were a female trio who were session singers and sang backup on many Motown hits. The were on a couple of Four Tops hits. Listen to I Can't Help Myself and you'll be able to hear them there also.
I love all the motown hits and the the non hits, but this is one of few that really gives me goose bumps, especially Levis brilliantly emotional "because intro at 00:17 and the 3rd or 4th long "Becau o o o o ose" at 2:31.
I agree that this song should have been a bigger hit but back in those days certain songs were chosen to distibute to djs and it did not make the cut. It sound alittle like baby i need your lovin.By the way langston66 i have been researching Motown for more than 40 years and I can assure you that the lead on this song is definately the cousin of Jackie Wilson. The Late Great Levi Stubbs. Great job on the recording.
has anyone heard a live version or seen one, i've yet to hear one. i'd love to hear it. i found an alternate take of this song on a copy of their debut album. i always buy doubles of what i already have. i'm paranoit there'll be something about it and lo and behold it was a totally different version, it sounded like a demo, i wonder if it was an accident if that version was on the album
The Four Tops had the greatest backing vocals in pop music. So much texture.

I have all of these old songs on albums from the 60's, how do you record them to YouTube? Good job, thankyou.
Snaarley 3 years ago 3
I just put in the cd and use a program called Windows movie maker.
Then just save it on the computer and download at youtube.
