I think there is one version of it were you take the bomb out as your flying away, throw it up softly and up-b in to it as your coming back to the stage and theres another version (I've seen isai do) were you drop the bomb (or throw it down I'm not sure) and fall in to it (I think I saw isai fast fall into it.) There should be videos on how to do it or threads at Smashboards.

It's simple, Samus has an all purpose panic button in her Up-B, and Link's recovery is several times worse than anyone else in the game

64 is all about combos though and samus has the worst by far. Link also has a very good bomb, boomerang and hit up tilt isn't half bad either.

I think Samus is better. A screw attack out of shield can negate about half of any other character's approaches, and even if she doesn't have a good combo game, she still has something there. Though I agree Link's boomerang and combo ability are quite good, his nearly complete lack of recovery makes it possible to kill him even if you don't combo

Ya I know that link recovery is the worst in the game, it doesn't even get much better if he bomb jumps. I also agree that samus has a nice up+b out of shield. We seem to agree about both the characters weakness and strengths, we just have different opinions on who is the better overall character.

Yes, but you have to be back-turned before you get hit off the stage, you can't change where you're facing in the air with Samus.

It's better to be facing toward the stage anyway, so you can grab the ledge.

I like your use of arcade notation, never seen someone use that when talking about smash, as its mostly 2468 directions and then there are the 'tilt' attacks to worry about..

It takes some extremely fluid timing for Samus' combos to work on other humans. A good short combo is going from her uair to her bair, but there's some start up time for the bair, and not much hit stun for the uair, so the opponent can DI. Samus is also overly reliant on her bair for kills. She has a nice spike, but it can be predictable. Basically you have to get very, very comfortable using her to get anywhere in a tournament.
