Darrell Abbot was a beast. To run parallels of heavy music's evolution to US political history, he was heavy metal's Kennedy. He pushed the envelope in tone, harmony, and aggression at a time when everyone was looking at the floor. His distorted spell of past and present, always an eye on technology, had a profound affect on a generation of guitar players. The 60's had Hendrix, the 70's Blackmore and then Van Halen, 80's had Hetfield (boohoo- he changed the game with his picking) 90's had Dime.
@racerx30 pantera actually started out as a glam "metal" band with dimebag and vinnie, it wasn't until around 1990 when they became heavier and got phil in as vocals. they had an album called Power Metal which was basically the transition, then was all heavy from Comboys from Hell and on.
Yes, Terry joined Lord Tracy after pantera. they put out four albums starting with "Def gods of babylon". their first single was "out with the boys", followed by "foolish love" a rock ballad. their last album was "porn again". they were originally named "Tracy Lords" but were sued over the name by the famous porn star.
ha yea i would of its just i wusnt expecting to meet him i was actually at the thing to meet paul reed smith which i did then outta nowhere terry glaze showed up but i guess its cause his daughter goes to my school but yea so i just got a pic and autograph
Dude, lucky...I think the band he joined after(Lord Tracy...?) had an album, I gotta look for that...=P Anyways, epic song...anyone know what that Dean Explorer-type guitar Terry's using is called...?
@JagexCamMan I have to disagree with you there, I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Pantera, Heavy and glam. But this stuff was very, very good for their time, 1984 was the start of all this, but they could have became a metal icon if they stayed glam, I mean, look at Motley Crue, Def Leppard, they were similar to this and they are icons.
I remember in the I Am The Night album, there were order forms so you could buy a Pantera (Live) video, and some merch...I wonder if this is some of that video
pegasuslover97, there are recordings of the Power Metal album with Terry singing...now getting a copy might be tough...those songs, were released with Phile singing, there's even a version of Down Below with Phil's vocals....I'd love to hear the Terry versions...
There never was a live "Nothin' On" video. Bummer..... Also, Terry did just fine... He still plays gigs all over the US & still puts out albums. Check them out sometime!
to all--- i now have power metal live a 9 track cd from 1989 with perfect quality including the art of shredding and the sleep 1 year before CFH was released !!!!
I would bet you could get them on ebay as well as any old record store that's still around. There's one not far from here that has a lot of rare albums.
They ALWAYS kicked ass. Even this old "glam" stuff still has amazing lead guitars, strong vocals (not the poofy Poison type), and a powerful rthym section. VIVA PANTERA!!!
As always, you are the man. You have the best Dime vids by far on here. I bet you had lots of fun... Hopefully we'll see more, maybe behind the scenes stuff? We can only hope.
Yes but the "old school" was much better than the "new school". They OWNED before Phil Ansuckmo! Once he joined the descent started, even though they became more successful. Success does not necessarily = good.

@racerx30 yeah, they were around a little longer. used to be glam metal but then became more hardcore/thrash, especially with CFH.

I think Terry is better than Phil. Phil had the agression and havieness that the band was looking for at the end of the 80´s I think.

oh saca! i can't agree with you completely.... because phil of first time (cowboys) have a nice voice..... listen
