  • LOVE IT!

  • i just got a estwing sportsman hatchet i love it just put a shaving sharp edge on it , u can tell by the grinding on it that it was done by hand no machine cranking em out and i love that about it, every one u get is gonna be slightly different and unique and its made in the USA

  • Just ordered it, your a very persuasive man!

  • @thongdongalong This video is just about a year old. I still have mine and still think it is great. It is the carbine rifle of axes. It is very portable and packable for an ax and yet does big work and is well made. With care it can last a lifetime. You'll like it.

  • i own two, one in my truck and one in my polaris ranger...ive used them for trail clearing and even falling small trees..it will make take out larger trees too...an exellent axe for emergency and utility use...i did make new leather sheaths for both the factory ones dont hold up to an extremely sharp edge like i put on them

  • i like this - its light enough not to slow you down yet robust enough to get the job done

  • I've had mine for five years and cut down dozens of dead trees with it, still chopping!

  • bought this awhile back, fantastic axe

  • Just bought this a week ago, been using it mostly as a throwing axe. Cut through a 10" round of maple just to test it out, it took awhile but it came through unscathed.. Great axe so far and it's tough as anything.

  • Fantastic pack axe, i use it here in b

  • Hm, I like it.

  • i have been using this axe for a month , i couldnt be happier with it, i could take a sequoia down with it in two days, and it is made to last a looooooooooong time, thanks again for the video.

  • good video well done

  • Sorry i didn´t get the type of steel. Can you tell me.

  • @TheMavrel Estwing does not say, they only refer to it as "forged steel". It might be 5160....?

  • Will you please review the Cold Steel war hammer?

  • dude i have been looking for a review on this axe for 2 weeks!! thank you very much

  • Yes, this is really a good axe. It is a medium sized axe and does good work. I don't even sell this axe on the website, I just made the review because I was pleased with the axe. It is solid steel, great grip options, more portable than most, comes sharp and is well made in the USA.

  • @wwwknivestowncom - I have to admit, it's more of the type of camp axe I have been looking to review.

  • I have owned this for a little over a year and it all that he said but the shaft under the head loves to rust so that needs attention.

  • I own a small hatchet and a very large axe. This would be a great in between tool. Thanks for the video.

  • I have this axe, thought it was cool, but it really reaks. It so hard on the joints....I got myself a very efficient 3 1/2pounds Michigan style axe with a wooden handle. It just doesn't compare!!!

  • Looks like a great camping/outdoors tool!

  • cool do you sell any cold steel tomahawks.

  • @InsertGun

I have the cold steel tomahaw and i dont like it :I It's really cool axe but it doesnt serve as good as a "axe" becouse it doesn't have weight on it :( its pain in the ass to chop thru anything with it..

  • @KeminmaanKauhu all hawks have that problem, they just arent made for processing wood and suck at it

and to be honest nvm how optimistic this guys sounds, this axe looks like shit and doesnt look like it'll chop tru anything at all

  • @nephildevil yeah, its really in the design.. after all tomahawks as far as i know aint ment to be woodcutters but more of an weapons, and i really think that this could do good on light duty stuff but the head looks bit lightweight to get good cutting action going on.

  • @KeminmaanKauhu indeed, exactly what i was thinking, both on the hawks and on this axe

and i dont think the maker of these vids ever uses any of this stuff

  • @nephildevil well if you notice on most of these he only talks about the design, the fit and finish, and the specs. he doesn't make any claims he can't support. Were I in the market for tools or knives I would certainly do more research than a single video like this. Companies like amazon.com make it easy to find first-hand user accounts. I like these videos because they introduce me to knives/tools I may not have heard of- if it catches my eye and I like the specs I'll look into it. ;)

  • @nephildevil incidentally I do have some experience with axes.. he calls it a 'home or camp/trail axe. ' It's not the tool you'd want to chop 10 cords of wood with, nor is it designed to be. Looks pretty solid and well constructed for lighter duty... I dont think I personally would buy it, but that's just my opinion, just as this review is his.

Since you seem to have experience too though, is there a small axe you would recommend?

  • @ShawDAMAN hey i'm subscribed too, also coz it is still a vid and gives a good visual impression either way. For campfire wood processing i prefer my bk9 actually, eventho i usually carry a hawk as well. The best small axe for wood i ever used was a cheap no brand one from a local store with a classic design, similar to granfors and etc. but obviously not in the same line of quality.

  • @nephildevil interesting. do you use a club of sorts to beat the back of the knife or does it have enough weight to chop smaller pieces just by swinging it?

  • @ShawDAMAN

yeah, you definitely need a baton to hack trough a log and a small log at that. nothing could replace a splitting axe for real work. At a camp site, an big blade would be okay for the already processed wood, but not friendly, because camp site are a family area. I say never bring a big blade to a camp site, it so ''unsightly''...It's for hiking and wild camping IMO.

  • @EasternGateGuardian I agree.

  • @ShawDAMAN i use another log or a stick on the back of the knife to baton or split logs, but it chops right tru the thickest logs in just a few hacks b4 the splitting part, i truly dont need a camping axe with this knife on me

  • @nephildevil cool.
