my choir is doing this, but as always, my choir director managed to find a different arrangement. the part the guys sing in the beginning and just about any other time there are actual lyrics are solos and everyone else is singing "the wind and the rain" over and over again very quickly
It is such a pleasure to hear this performed again after so many years. I am not sure why...but there is something about this piece that makes it one of my favorites. (I talked Talbot into letting us perform it in February of 1971 as a part of our performance prior to the Yale Whiffenpoofs performing at Calhoun.)
Your choir has a lovely warm tone.....congratulations and thanks for the memories and great music!
I sang barritone in the 1976 America's Youth In Concert tour. We bagan in London and finished in Rome. We performed at the International Society of Music Educators convention at Montroux, Switzerland. I have the LP's and I have converted them to CD. They are a bit scratchy, but the music is definately there!! What a magnificent experience. One I shall never, NEVER forget.
1976 here...we sang it under the direction of Gerry Mack of Hartt School while touring Europe with America's Youth in Concert. We did Bruckner's Mass in e minor too. Wish I could find a recording of THAT one where they know how to pronounce Latin and Greek! :)

Bravo! I always loved this setting--it inspired me to write my own version for SSA/piano. You have a delightful choir!

Haven't heard this - anywhere - since we performed it in 1971 - my senior year at Calhoun! Thanks for the chance to hear it again.
