Hootie and the blowfish used to do a live version of this song but I can't find it anywhere-I know that it was recorded- please community help me find this alternate version.
@myeager90@VirOfGlacies It was a beautiful summer evening in Oregon on June 25th 2007 we both spent the day wandering around the coastal cities enjoying ourselves. We decided to head on home to Portland driving down Highway 26 just outside Tillamook taking in the scenery, with the windows down we could smell the sweet scent of pine listening to STP all the way, we stopped to overlook the Oregon coast at sunset, we turned up the radio sat in the back seat and got lost in the summer heat.
Woke up with this song in my head the other day and it keeps coming back. Somehow it's helped me out of a deep depression and made me fall in love with it.
I listen to this song when I need to sit smoke a cigarette and just think. Think about my past, my future and everything in between. Thinking about loves found and lost, loves that I never acted on and loves that only ended badly. This song is the epitome of emotion in me and helps me get through bad times. STP is the best.
@amsay86 was a great movie, a shame none of the follow-ups were nearly as good as the first. I don't know what it is about the film, but I just think the script and acting just worked.
Why dislike this song? What do you gain? And your lucky I can't tell who disliked it because then I would track you guys all down and hit you with a car!
I really like how the bass stays the same. It brings you back down from the loud parts. Sorry I know very little about music. I'm a math and science geek.
wow, this songs reminds me of some pretty crazy days....... i am so glad to say, i survived and i am alive! would never go back, if i was given the chance... but it is good to be reminded of where you've been and be able to see and appreciate where you are.......
This song sound pretty amazing when you open your window at middle of dark night, jump into it and sit down. Then smoke cigarette and absorb night wind and atmosphere.. think about a lonely journey in car in night.alone.. with your own big empty with Her name on it.pure genius and flawless..
@KazKrin Oh man this is exactly the kind of paradise i experienced once. My home is in the country, it was just a month after i got my G2 so i could drive on my own, well i couldn't stop driving around on country roads. One night i did exactly this, STP was playing, i lit up a Du Maurier cigarette, and man i just drifted off into bliss, it was one of those awesome cool nights, with cedar and farm smells in the air.
@thinkpad411 awesome memory, man. it's been too long since i cruised an interstate at dusk and smelled the alfalfa in the air. would love to do it again with this song playing loudly through the night.
@ilikepie779 if only i had the balls to tell my girlfriends dad the same thing... except take out the whole "my daughter was made" and put "your daughter was...." use your imagination. lmao
I always thing gloomy when I hear this song. Black and white (extremes, no grays; think Sin City). Something about this song, can't figure out. Strange feeling. Only 2 other songs I know that are similar, have a similar effect: Black Hole Sun and Soul To Squeeze!
@JustinRosinski Haha. Noob. Sorry, but that comment really made me laugh and was a waste of time. You can't get an STP fan to convert to the pussy side. ;)
saw them last friday. wow, if you know their songs well enough, it might be the best concert you ever see. big empty was especially amazing, so was dead and bloated.
@frgtnhvymtal No, I didn't really like the opening bands that much. We were eagerly awaiting STP to come on...and i think the opening bands played waay to long. but STP definietly were excellent!
@KelseyL97 Yeah, and well worth the wait. That was the first time I've been to that venue and it was nice, but the seating was a bit cramped. My sister had an asthma attack from the people two rows behind us smoking pot. lol.
@frgtnhvymtal true, it was pretty cramped. before the concert we thought we had awesome seats, until an exxtremely tall guy sat in front of us. i guess it would have been a good idea to walk up front for a better look. Oh no i hope she was okay :/
The 90's grunge and alternative scene was the greatest era in music now all you have fucking country and techno (which includes rap, pop and rock) there is no such thing as good rock bands anymore unless they have been around for years, sad really, so I'm stuck in the 90s and early 2000's thank you grunge :)
@ElitetheRipper There still is good music out there. You just have to look harder, to find it, because you're not going to find it on Top 40 music charts.
This song is awesome unlike the amatuer lowclass wannabe crap that is on the radio today. What happened to this stuff when talent was raw and natural. These days a song is published and it lasts a week and is forgotten unless it is on the top 10. This stuff lasts forever.
One of those songs that is itself gotta love the guitar. the lyrics. and considering the next fallout new vegas dlc takes place in "The Big Empty" There better be an STP reference!
