  • hi, your videos are great.

I've just started playing and the only harmonicas ive been able to get are hohners one is a silverstar in the key of e and the other is a hot metal on key c, also a few days i got a hold of a hohner piedmont blues set, do you know if these harmonicas are any good?

    thanks for your time

  • I'm a beginner and i know amazing grace, and blowing in the wind, but i want to know it in blues any advice on tabs for blues amazing grace and things and any advice on what sort of harmonica, at the moment ive got a 10 c Barclay one, and a 32 hole double row harmonica saying golden butterfly on it.....any advice?

  • I keep looking at the TV in the background wishing I could clean it... Oh, and great video, too. Thanks!

  • I don't see a TV in the background..and I live here..hmm

  • Hah. And here I thought there was a TV mounted into your wall above the fireplace. I guess it's just a painting or something!

  • @RustyGonzo Yea thats a painting dude.

  • @RustyGonzo lol looks like you mean the plasma in the wall thats clearly a picture in a frame hahaha but if you love cleaning my tv is all covered in biscult due to a little girl wiping her minging hands everywhere while i play the harmonica..

  • Hey Ronnie. The other day I randomly decided I wanted to buy a harmonica. It was litterally "I want to buy one!" And I hopped in my truck, and went to the music store, and picked up a hohner marine band C, and I gotta tell you. Im hooked!

Anyways, I love your videos, keep em comming! they dont get old

  • Ronnie What do you think about "silverstar" I used to play blues harp, or what harmonica you recommend me?

  • i just bought a book on how to play and it came with a peice that sounds like a cat getting kicked while taking a shit

  • I have had a key of C harmonica for a while now. if I were to get a different key harmonica What key should I get next???

  • Get one in the key of G.

  • for a nice bright sound get an A

  • Ronnie, what is ur opinion of Seydel? I am looking to purchase a Seydel blues pro soloist Key of C as my begining harp. I have read some good things about this harp was wondering if you knew of them. Thanks!

  • How do you feel about hohners?

  • Ronnie, a took yer advice an boughta Bushman delta frost.... What a difference,,, a had been messin around wi a swan... then a thought tae when a wis a young un., an ma dad had a honher... so a bought a honher... that was a big difference.. an it felt like quality.. until the bushman... am at the very early stages on a harp...a kin play all sorts of tunes but no blues... but ad love tae....but it feels like ye say Tight... an loud.... cheers Ronnie... John... in Scotland uk......

  • I've tended to go with harps with plastic combs. When I play in a smokey bar, I can always rinse the smell away with some mouthwash, and not worry about the comb swelling and ruining the harp. I currenty play Lee Oskars. Special 20's are ok, but the cover of the Golden Melody snags my moustache whiskers sometimes.

I must not play aggressive enough, because I don't blow harps out that often. Can you post a video of the same tune with different harps? That would help a lot!

    Thanks

    Phil

  • Ronnie, thanks for the advice on harp buying. I bought one of your downloads and it won't be the last! Please, please keep up the good work. Good teachers are all but impossible to come by these days. Your ability to play is top shelf and paled only by the passion you have for the harp/blues/education of other aspiring musicians/afficianados. Thanks again.

  • can you teach bad timing by blue rodeo please???

  • i want to learn how to play the harp, and i was wondering if the bushman delta frost in the key of c is a good harmonica to start off with? do your instructional dvds go step-by-step for beginners like me? i would appreiciate if you answer thanks a lot! you are one good harp player

  • it's good. since making this video i've changed my opinion a bit. Bushmans are still good but very bright...i prefer the Marine Band Deluxe or Special 20. My beginner material starts from the very beginning...so no worries.

  • I am wanting to start playing the harmonica and i was wondering what is something good to start with.

  • Start with something like a Honer Marine Band or something cheap. Get the hang of it and as get better try a Lee Oscar harp by Tombo. Excellent!

  • ow yeah iw as thinking of geting a special 20 are they good i went on a harmoncia site and they recomended it.

  • i just call em harmonicas cuz harp is a differnt instroment. u dont call a trumpet a piano do u lol.

also by teh way is harmonica a hard instrument to elrn like guitar takes about 5 years to get good at wich ive been playing for 2 years(so im still very much a novice) but im thinking about learning harmonica but if u no its like realy hard to learn i wont be able to handle both instruments.

  • I wanna do and learn that 2..is it hard?? like how long do you have to practice?

  • how come people r callin harmonicas harps?

  • Thats a good question, think of the Delta bluesman....maybe it had something to do with playing like an angel....Gabriels harp and all.

    Go watch Crossroads.

  • man, all i have is some bluesband made in china piece of crap. oh well, i'm gonna buy a new one. keep the vids comin'.

  • Man, I love the giant harp in the background!

  • I have a lee oskar in major G and is an excel.lent harmonica. I'm starting to play it, and is fantastic.

  • ive just started playing the harp(few months ago) and bending has come very easy, i can blow and draw bend all the high and low notes. It's not THAT dificult

  • Se tu italiani

  • I'm planning on buying a Lee Oskar in Major C, which I heard, is an excellent harmonica for beginners... At least, that's what I heard...

It will be my first Harmonica. I hope it's a good one.

  • great man

  • I just got the new Seydel 1847 that has stainless steel reeds, sealed maple wood comb. The stainless steel reeds are being touted as lasting much longer than conventional brass reeds, especially the way the reed metal is milled. Plays like a custom harp right out of the box... going for about $85 US, but well worth it if it lasts and lasts... time will tell... I like 'em !

  • FYI Bushman Delta Frost is produced by Suzuki and is analogue to Suzuki Harpmaster with the only difference, that the reed plates are made from Phosphor-Bronze, which is claimed to last longer.

  • I've played both and they sound like to completely different harmonicas. The reed plates make a big difference in tone and playability as well. The harpmaster gets jammed up all the time. Thanks for the comment harpsnake!!

  • I've played 3 brand new Suzuku Promaster in A and they all sounded like completely different harmonicas :) And Suzuki has most constant quality if you compare it with other brands. BTW, like your playing very much :)

  • why dont the messages ever post when you want em to its so annoying. anyway thx for the advice ronnie, i just bought a bushman souls voice. Tried it this morning and it sounds pretty studly, plus i can play the higher notes without squeak, love the lee oskars too. thanks again for the advice

  • great job man
