PENTIUM II 300 the most ULTIMATE MACHINE EVEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!! lol i still have my pentium II here with me and still feel quite amazed how tech went up very fast
It's a shame they weren't into overclocking or they would have known the Celeron 300A can do 450mhz and runs the cache at full speed as opposed to half speed on a Pentium II. That would have been a much better CPU choice for an ultimate gaming rig back then.
@KranitokoGames I offered one for free to coworkers a couple months back. It sat on a desk for a month with a sign that said "Take me I'm free" It ended up at the salvation army.
White case, hehe, its weird cuz all the cases are black nowdays, im wondering whats going to happen in couple years, are we going to laugh about black cases? lol (sorry my english SUXBAKLLS)!111one
OMG THE RAM READS AND WRITES AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Pc reminds me of the days when you had to leave your computer running all night for AOL to install (the modem days). Not that im bragging but I have a laptop with 8 gg mem 1T Drive Space i7 720 processorATI radeon 5800 graphics HD Blu-ray RE drive 1080p 18.4" screen this cost me a £1000 and just that monitor costs 5 grand makes you think what theyre gonna do in the future.
@Videodrome06 No, they didn't. I remember 1998 as a particularly good year for gaming.. and besides, we'll all look back in ten or fifteen years at what we think is powerful and cutting edge now and we will laugh. Again.
Damn, I remember the day when we got our first 400mhz PII with 128mb ram and a fucking 3dfx voodoo banshee.... could play -everything- back in the day with that... was just incredible =D That was (except for the first Athlon 600 I got when it came out) my favourite system ever.
-Yeah, today I still have the ambition to own, one of the possibly fastest systems you can actually build up, but everything kind of lost it myth.

@clint525fuller These shows became defunct because the average american is an idiot and this network caters to people with a 4 brain cell minimum. It was unfortunate then but it's even worse now. @tetsiki It's about nostalgia for when we were young and it was just so exciting to see not only a whole station dedicated to technology, but a bunch of hosts who were geeks like us and who really love tech
Meh, not really. I don't want to take off the front panel to remove the side. Look at the Corsair 800D. Two buttons in the back, one for each side panel. One push and the panel pops off. Now THAT's brilliant.
'Only need 64MB of RAM for most games' '...So incredibly greedy' WTF. If 128MB SDRAM is greedy.. what is 8GB DDR3? 300Mhz Pentium II? What about an 2.8Ghz AMD Phenom II x4? Jesus. I so want to take my machine back then to see how they react!
First PC was an 8088. I was depressed years ago that a printer had 120mhz processor built in and seemed overkill. Now we have cell phones 10 times that. Dual core tablets that are mobile platforms.

My computer at work has a basic connection of about 150 KBps and I feel it is slow.
@CipherMagi I thot it was because of economics. higher demand means the price goes DOWN DOWN DOWN. most people didn't have a computer in their house, not to mention the high quality (whatever high quality was back then) monitors. Now-a-days almost every house has a computer. My house has 5 computers and 3 laptops. But i'm sure you're right, that chinese child slave labor has gone up 1000% in 10 years sure...
I just don't get how that VDU would be $5000. In '98 I had a 21" CRT and it took up about half a kitchen table (it was much deeper than it was wide), probably at 1024x768, but it didn't cost anywhere near that much.
