you know, xplay commented (while saying that myst should go to wii, in a semi-humorous 'point & click' joke) on the myst series, saying 'if only they could point & click their way to a better storyline' but i myself quite like the storyline. It's not cheesy or anything at all, it doesn't try to be particularly epic or anything, And (despite the long diary entries in the library) it's easy to follow. i guess they mean that it's a little slow-paced, but what do you expect from a puzzle game?

mate i get lost in the story of any of these games whenever i play them, its an epic story, and anyone who thinks otherwise has no clue what they're talking about :D

@michaelspadaro6 Actually, Myst had a fairly straight-forward story, in comparison to the stories of later Myst titles (and the novels). I mean, you really only had three characters in this game. I suppose, in comparison to that of many platform titles, this game's story was a little more complex.

Myst III was made for PS2 and Xbox. They were only enjoyable with a Mouse Peripheral, and that would kinda defeat the purpose.

They just ported Myst (1) for the iPhone/iPod Touch. I bought it. Its the same thing. Just touch instead of click. I'd think they could possibly do the other Myst games for iPhone/iPod, too

no it is not a prequel

riven was once destroyed before when gehn tryed to kill atrus but riven was unstable and catharan through all the linking books but on(myst) into one of the fissure atrus then proceded to fall into another one of the fissures the book not being destryoed...etc

that is why there is a fissure in riven and to my understanding riven was once one big island

any way gehn a power hungry dn'i wants to go back to dn'i hence the last of the game so when catharan came back to her own people(yes she is from riven) she got captured to get gehn what he wanted.

the rocket launcher is the reward for solving the second puzzle

then the covenant is going to descend in their battlecruisers and you have to kill 10 elites within the time limit or yuna is going to marry seymour.

@josias417 It's not very easy to understand without having read any of the comics or the novels. The comics give some 'cheap' background on the family. But the novels give a really good understanding of the characters and their once great civilization. However, the game is still playable and enjoyable while the player is in a state of confusion.

Real Myst is cool and also has the Rime Age at the end. Wlll there ever be a Real Riven to complete the series in 3d?

To complete the series in 3D they should make a Real Riven, a Real Exile and a Real Revelation. Which I'm afraid will never be made. :-(

@DevilMaster I wouldn't find those remakes to be necessary. Riven already had/has gorgeous visuals. Myst was looking kinda' homely, though.

Unfortunately, the series is pretty much dead. It would cost the company a lot more money to remake Riven and Exile than they could recouperate.

im stuck on the 2nd age, the one with all the ships, if found both blue and a red page, ive determined theres nothing else i can do there for now but i cant leave, am i mising something?

You know the tunnels that lead to the rooms with the red and blue pages in them. About halfway down one of those tunnels, you can open a secret passageway to the side by clicking on the wall. This wall usually has a line going through it. When in the secret room, there is a compass. Pushing the 12th button to the right from the top on that compass turns the lights on in the ship. Then you can go to the ship and find the myst book to get back.

Yeah. Movie would be cool, but how would they do it. Have a first person view of you solving puzzles? Make it a little more interesting as far as movies go and you've got yourself a blockbuster.

They should have every game on one disk. And to unlock the next game you need to beat the one before it. But I wouldn't buy it if I had to pay for each individual game again.
