I used to see Jo with Uri and David in the early 70''s at the Tanzman Bungalow colony in the Catskills - Jo Amar used to perform at Grossingers and once they nearly didn't let him into the hotel because he wasn't a guest and didn't have a Grossinger's key. That was funny. He started yelling at the security people in Spanish. Great memories, folks. RIP.

To me, as a musician, his TAKSIM and Notes Bending remind me of Blue Notes in Jazz etc.
Call it Sephardic, Middle Eastern, International, or just FUNKY and HIP! All apply!
Add such CHARISMA and its hard not to dance:)!
