Great vid, like the others. That drive is one of my Favs when traveling. I'm glad you had it. The Cascades are amazing. I need to see if you have more from further up north.
One big thing that is missing is when you originally shot the video (At least month and year).
I drove in this area in March, 2009 to Mount Shasta. I would suggest doing both a northbound AND southbound I-5 between Redding (Exit 680) and Mt Shasta (714). After the bridge at exit 690, I-5 does a major split, and at one point, the northbound lanes are 3/4 mile away from the southbound lanes. Also, because of the curves, there are some interesting electric warning signs.
@ZLothKram Ha Ha, you're right about the signs (southbound i think). Used to be quite narrow, I don't know about now. I hit that downhill spot late at night once after driving all day from Seattle. Not fun after driving all day.
I only drove the Turnpike at night, during a torrential downpour from 10 p.m. to 3:30 at night, on the way from the DC/Baltimore area to Pittsburgh. Man, that was not a lot of fun.
I took I-79 South to I-68 East to I-70 to access DC/Baltimore, from Pittsburgh. Thought I'd do the Turnpike on the way back, just to say that I've driven it.
That's a great video. It is interesting to see that Hwy 97 either ends or starts at I5 in northern California. I live in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia and Hwy 97 is the main traffic artery of the entire valley. It connects all towns and cities with each other. I'm always on it.
I remember when I first travelled I-5 SB near Truckee in LATE May, and I was like, what's with the snow? I left 96 degrees back home in Canada that year LOL
Great video! One of my favorite drives anywhere! I cannot wait to record this stretch. Favorited!

That Jersey barrier and the windiness makes this stretch of I-5 look like the PA turnpike.
Mt Shasta makes it *not* look like PA :)

Awesome video. Between scenery like this+ the beautiful coastline it's no wonder people still want to live in CA even with all its problems.

I like the vid cuz it looked cold there in NoCal. Living in hot and sunny Tucson, let's just say spring isn't my favourite time of year. :)

Fantastic video once again Brent. This reminded me of Christmas time up in Big Bear.

Great ride, the music worked well with it.
Parts of the first half reminded me of the West Virginia Turnpike.
Weed...only in Cali :)
