Semi permanent colours don't develop so you can leave it on for as long as you want without the fear of damage. The video looks more orange due to the lighting and it was taken a week later. Unfortunately, because its an orange based red, it would have an orange hue as it fades

Its a semi permanent dye so it doesnt matter how long you leave it on for just as long as it is on for more than 15 mins so its your choice :)

Oh a tip for people who don't want to get dye all over their forehead, neck, ect.

Put petroleum jelly on the areas you dont want to stain before you start dying your hair. It says this on most hair dyes, including manic panic, put people have a habit of not reading directions before using things. c:

@Marinell1123 Ok if your hair is dark like a brown (not light but more of a chesnut colour) or black or something dark like that you should probley bleach it first but if its like blonde or golden or light brown then your fine. I believe that if it is dark it will be more of a red tint since it wont show up very-well. I dont know the tint part for sure since i havent dyed my hair yet so its only me tryin to answer with only commmon sence sorry if its not very accurate but i do know the 1st part

I use manic panic and i dyed my hair 2 months ago and it hasn't faded because i use dry shampoo more than i actually wash my hair but when i do i always wash it with cold water.. gives me a headache but totally worth it! Unfortunately my roots are now coming through, so im going to need to dye them today. Only bad thing about this dye is it still, even after 8 weeks, gets on my clothes! Is this just me? haha. But it's the best dye ever! I get so many compliments

@singerthatlovesTH It depends. If you wash your hair once or twice a week with shampoo and cold water and the other days use dry shampoo it can last just like normal permanent dye :) Mine has stayed the same after 2 months and hasnt faded. But my roots have come through! haha

You can just apply this semi permanent over your hair without bleaching. It wont be as vibrant but it would be noticable x

I used my hands cause im that much of a douche i couldnt work out which way to move my tint brush :P Tint brush is probably more accurate but slower. Plus im not overly fussy with the colour.

How did you NOT get red everywhere? I dyed my whole head red for the first time and I got the red allllll over everything! It's been the hardest color to clean up. It even stained my tub when I rinsed my hair out. I tried using Vaseline...but I still have some dye on my skin. Thanks!

I dont quite know but I did manage to get red over my cheek in this video :P It was inevitable.. I cake the vaseline on so that's probably why I didnt get much staining. Red is a right git to get out. I had to bleach my bath after everytime I washed my hair

You dont need to but it will produce a more vivid result the lighter the hair

Bleach does damage but if you take good care of your hair before and after, and follow manufacturers instructions, the damage will be minimal

Im not going to recommend bleaching or not as its to your own personal preference

And i couldnt live with just conditioner..

It was hard at first for me too as I was used to washing my hair everyday.

I used dry shampoo every other day and once my hair got used to that, I used the dry shampoo to extend a further day. I did this for about a month before I dyed my hair initially. I shower everyday but used a shower cap to keep my hair dry. You could invest in some red reflex shampoo (wella does one) and maybe some indola colour mousse but to give it that colour back after shampooing,

It faded after about 2 weeks but only got really noticible after 4 so I'd retouch every 3.

Im now using a different dye (la riche directions) and I find its much more money friendly :P

Manic Panic lasted about 3 weeks without turning orange on me but I found it too expensive (£9 a pot at least)

So I now use Directions (£3.50 a pot). This lasts a good 2 weeks without going orange but you can redye as often as you need as it doesnt damage your hair. If you want it to last longer, I suggest using some in your normal conditioner :)

Some people prefer to sleep in it but I dont fancy red pillows :P

Depends what your schedule is that day. Mine is generally assignments which sucks and I leave mine on from anything from 1-4 hours

Exactly the same reason I did if im honest :P

I think the more you worry about it,the more paranoid and nervous you get about doing it. The dye is quite runny and easy to spread around so its hard to miss a bit (my personal opinion). And as you can see, Im not very precise when I do my hair :P If you want a more thorough application, I suggest using a tint brush or maybe even asking a friend to help. As for the parents, mine has given up and now embraces the red :P

I redo mine every 2 weeks and only wash my hair twice a week.

I dont use anything special just regular shampoo but once a week, I do my own conditioning treatment with regular conditioner and a small blob of red dye to keep it fresh

I've looked loads of places for the answer and some people say it doesn't stain your pillowcase, others say it does, but no one mentions after you've dyed it and it's dry and you're say into day 3 or something...help?

I have found that it did not stain my pillows but I did find that occasionally when I got too hot at night, my head would sweat both at the nape of my neck, and on my forehead because of my bangs leaving red on my face and neck. This was easily wiped off though. But no.. No stained pillows :) If you want more info, hit me with another question and Ill try to expand more :P

It happened from the first day to the last day I had red hair. And when I rinsed my hair, it never ran clear. I rinsed until the water had a slight red colour to it.

If you want a bright result, I'd suggest bleaching your hair. Putting a semi permanent over would only give your hair a tint and it will shimmer red in certain lights

Id say it lasted about 3 weeks before it started to fade to a slight orange. I washed my hair with cold water to help the colour stay in and very rarely used heat :P And as the dye is a semi permanent, you can retouch whenever necessary and it will not damage your hair. Id recommend only bleaching your roots after your first application of red :)

I've been looking around quite a lot and I found some Igora dyes by Schwarkopf, but it seems that only Live Color XXL: Real Red can get me the shade of red that I'm looking for. (I currently have somewhat dark brown hair and I intend to put the dye right on without bleaching my hair beforehand).

Personally no. Id say it would have to be a blonde to get a brighter result but you could put it over the colour I have but I cannot guarantee it wont have a slightly orange tinge to it. Its up to you if you want to risk it

I had this red hair for approximately 3 months with 2 touch ups. It stayed in really well but then I hardly washed it as my hair doesnt get greasy quickly and when I did wash it, I'd wash it with cold water. Ive currently got XXL intense red or something in now and I completely know the feeling but thats what I get for dying my red hair black and then wanting to be red again :P

Well I dyed my hair black about 2 months ago and I bleached it from black to a more of a reddish brown.. The bleach I used was from 'mellor & russell' and it was the gentlest bleach Ive ever used!!! So my verdict is, its okay to bleach your hair as long as you take good care of it (Aussie 3 minute miracle moist works wonders :P). And dont bleach your hair too often :L To get a true red, you only need to have a orange base :)

Dont worry :P To get a bright result, you would have to bleach your hair. Bleaching your hair lightens it allowing the colour to be brighter. For an awesome red shade you only need an orange base. Bleaching is okay for your hair if you look after it. I recommend using a deep conditioner before and after you bleach. That way your hair is kept in good condition. Not at all but as my hair was previously black, the bleach was necessary.

I bleached in this video as the first bleach i did was uneven due to regrowth.

It all depends on your hair colour

I waited 3 hours to make sure the colour penetrated the hair so I could get a bright red. The packet says you can leave it on for a minimum of 15 minutes. Semi permanent hair colour does very little damage to your hair and often leaves your hair in a much better condition than it started with due to the conditioning agents in the formula. It is very gentle to your hair, I can assure you :)
