Hey guys, if you have a spare minute could you please check out some of my guitar covers on my channel. I hate advertising like this but it seems like the only way to get exposure, thanks if you do check it out :)
I can't believe I've been rockin' hard for 37 years and I'm just now getting into Velvet Underground. I' ve heard of them since I got into 'Circus' magazine in 1974, but this year I'm Samhaining Andy Warhol (DO see 'Beautiful Darling', people!). I've heard "Sweet Jane" by Lou Reed solo and by Brownsville Station.
How can you say that Warhols underrated when his "eleven elvises" sold for over 100 million dollars making it one of the most expensive paintings of all time.
I like a lot velvet underground and am big fan o lou reed but i hate andy warhol.I dont know very much about him and it is just my opinion. In fact i just know his most famous things, but it is too modern for me. And dont think it is really art, just rebelion against something. But just my opinion,i think opinions are healthy.Sorry for my crap english.
@IWantToTasteDirtyx3 does he ever. saw a great comment on another post of this song, summed it up perfectly. the song shows exactly what the game becomes after awhile.. waiting
You see, I use to be a heroin addict myself when I was 18. (now im 22) so... I can relate to the song so much! hehe except the 26$ dollars!... try 100$ dollars for a gram! Wish I was scoring back in the good ol' days of cheap dope when I was a head... heh
But back to the song, I was hooked when I heard the lyric.. "He's never early. hes always late. First thing you learn is that you always gotta wait".. & that was so true when I use to score. "My man" was exactly like that.
This film has its own LIVE Velvets soundtrack, which I would rather hear than dubbing in the record. The film is over 40 minutes long & is almost the only Warhol film in which its author actually appears (after the police come in and break up the rehearsal). I wouldn't call the Velvets "underrated" since they are recognized today as the BEST American rock band of the 60s. Warhol is the most famous artist of the 20th Century. Most of the comments here are incredibly dumb.
this song is abt waiting for your drug dealer right? cuz "hes got the works" is that kinda line and hes all dressed in black and hes got long hair and is dainty
@sugardaddy815 Na man i live in cali n everyone has their med cards all you need is a beating heart n you get one haha. But yea thats actualy what ive heard just benzos vicodine and other stuff
I'm 12 and I really hate the music of my generation. My classmates listen to music like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. I think this is sooo much better!
This is a song I can play over & over on any given,& not tire of it one bit. I've probably heard it 6 times today.I don't mean I play it daily, but on days I do, one play never seems enough! There are aspects to this song that sound unique, unlike any other. For instance, the sound of the rhythm guitar cords I don't recall hearing that exact same guitar sound on any other song any where, not even on another VU song. Such a great sound! & the rhythm on this song is infectious!
@thisnotmyname HA HA HA HA! "My sister is also a photographer," he sniffed. You should go back and read your whole comment and see what a complete prat you sound like.
Cause you know so much more about art then Lou Reed, John Cale, Paul Morrissey, Barbara Rubin, and everyone else who held Warhol in high regards. Do everyone a favor and keep your idiotic opinions to yourself. VU are one of the most influential bands of all time. They are the godfathers of punk and indie, basically all alternative music has been influenced by them.
@jubilaz Are you an idiot? You are aware that this is one of my favourite bands of all time? I don't know if you read through my comment wrong but I clearly stated UNDERRATED band. They are held in high regard but, in my opinion, should be as well known as the Beatles or Zeppelin.
As for Warhol, I stick by what I said, his work might have been new and exciting in the sixties but it has hardly stood the test of time. His art was in his celebrity rather than his creativity,
@jdawg10k Andy Warhol conformed massively in the sixties; he was one of the most mainstream artists at the time. To prove my point: this rapidly zooming in and out rapidly is now a cliche of sixties music videos and not it's not a cliche Warhol created. This was hardly anything new or 'experimental'.
@jdawg10k Actually they are regarded as one of the most influencial band of the 60's-70's period. Andy is highly regarded in the art community till this very day, and gets great respect from his peers. I believe one of his paintings was sold for 20 million$ last year.
@YouCube7 I feel they only get acknowledgement in an artistic and cult way, not in terms of the masses. Most rag on both Andy's art, and VU's music. Of course, neither were aiming to impress the masses.
@jdawg10k Well, this band is not for everyone, they are not an "easy listen" and therfore dont have many fans but they are still being cited as a major influence by various bands/artists
Wait... what? You do realize that both The Velvet Underground AND Andy Warhol receive vast amounts of attention on an international level, right? I mean... Warhol's experimentation in video is definitely underrated, but himself as an artist... not so much.
I dont get why is there this supremaçy of music above all other arts, yes maybe warhol is a little overratted compared to other painters of his time but he is surtanly smashed in terms of popularity and being hip than any Band the even a minor band. There is jiust such an misconception about musci and art. its sad

@LeatherCladVegan, be thankful you're still alive. Many drug abusers end up dead because they can't control their habit. You're just the exception, not the rule ...
@huggybobo88 Actually they are regarded as one of the most influential band in the 60's-70's period. And stop writing "thumbs up if you agree" cooments, you dont need the extra attention
@YouCube7 I hate when people ask for thumbs up. Also when they insult the people who thumbed down the video by saying 14 people are so and so. Obnoxious

Obnoxious

@harriscmh you wanted those thumbs so bad, and you succeeded.
and people who dislike this are obnoxious. Keep it to yourself it you have bad taste in music.
funny you directed your comment at "YouCude7" who sits comfortable above you, and makes a great point.
