Not all other press conferences had to do with signing a document btw. It is possible that the Canadian flags were not visible on a direct on angle, I know it sounds stupid but you literally could not see any Canadian flags during the signing. What Harper suggested was that the 3 wise men had gathered to sign the coalition agreement in a place where the Canadian Flag "was not even present". They probably had to be told , or it had to be an arguement with Duceppe that it had to be there so it was "Officially Canadian". I think the West cries too much, with all due respect. Vancouver is getting the Olympics, which the Liberal government, at that time, helped out to win the bid for the games. Chretien travelled overseas with the Vancouver team and was the only world leader there. He argued that Vancouver is a first-class city that could use this bid to become one of the top cities in the world and he wanted to see that. The current government is shelling out billions (10 of the 20 it will cost) for these games.
