I am a developer because I like problem solving, the challenges involves and being able to be creative in what I do.
Successfully completing a project to the client's requirements and seeing the end product being used by a couple or thousands of people, is I think quite rewarding...
If you have the right skills set and if you are dedicated, the money and career progression as developer can be quite good..
That's my 2 cents, if you don't agree... well I don't care... :D
I'm hoping VS 2010 is going to be faster, more responsive, provide more productivity enhancing features and have an engine that allow iPhone apps development.... :-)
@xtericx I've used Vim for a number of my projects. However since this is a senior design project we're told what to program in, what IDE's we can use and what we have to do. There really isn't much room to maneuver in when you're using C# .Net and wrapping them as dss services.
I'm a software developer because I like stupid shit. Working like a machine or like indian people which is basically the same type of work. So, I'm trying to jump a little bit higher than my keyboard in order to be able to keep my job in about 5-10 years...
Does it make sens? I mean, Will you still be able to work as a developer in 10 years? I think that is the real question.
The only time "Microsoft" and "got me thinking" should ever be in the same sentence is in the phrase, "Microsoft got me thinking about other operating systems."
@MicrosoftPowerPivot Agreed, the fast zooms are annoying when they're trying to make the video seem less planned, more off-the-cuff. And it's disconcerting to watch. Worst though when it's a hollywood feature and the camera is shaking all over the place for no reason. Ugh.
I just LOVE developing with GCC. Compiling my C++ code through the use of a brilliantly written makefile makes my day. Gosh, I think developing drivers for the 2.6.31-20 kernel is my probably my favorite thing to do.
I love the fact that it's like a huge puzzle. If I do this, what will happen. I also love learning from my mistakes, and watching my developing skills improve.
this man "develops" CHEESY acting as far as i can see, i cant believe i was taken here by stumble. bloody corporate whores are using it to make me watch adverts now?
Whenever I'm making a program, and something just isn't working, and can't find the issue through a debug, spending hours trying to pinpoint the reason, the feeling I get when I find and fix it is like an orgasm.
My country was one of the former soviet countries. I wanted to help but did not know how. After learning basic skills I have created alphabet for kids and and ended up with making business cd card for national airways. Am I happy? Is it enough? Of course no. I want to create more. And amazing thing is there os no end in programming like in chess. I think software developers are like zorro, noone saw. But everyone know that they exist by their deeds.
If I were a developer I would say that I do it purely for the satisfaction of making elaborate and complex programs that are at the same time at the pinnicle of it's simplisty. And of course also for the money which will then be used to get the things that ...
Anything creative involves a serious spark and commitment no matter what you're doing...stuff like this just seems a lot more technical than say, music or writing a book...
I wanted to be a developer when I figured how much better the OS and the tools on UNIX were compared to all the utter-crap Microsoft was producing. UNIX enabled me to developed software that could run fast and on many platforms.

Real developers do not think in "MS vs Unix/Linux" way...Real developers use tools, and tools are MS and others to complete their tasks.

You can always tell the pro productions because of the fast, fluid zoom. Standard consumer cameras don't do that.

Ok.. it goes like this:
I was a nerd at school, and not popular with the ladies.
So I turned to programming computers, since they couldn't outright reject me and didn't beat me up all the time.
So there you have it. The exiting story.
