  • adorable!

  • @fishyfish4444 It's The Shim Sham Song by Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra

  • Get down, Frankie!!

  • The song is called salt and peanuts or something like that. My amazing tap teacher Alicia Monaco taught my class thus today. It was simple and fun ;)

  • Can someone please tell me this music, this recording?

    Thank you.

  • Shim Sham Frankie all day long..........

  • I learned this dance a few days ago, and now I REALLY want to get into Swing!

  • Anyone know whether Frankie Manning was one of the dancers in the film Hellzapoppin'? (If so, which one?)

  • @TroyOi I'm late in responding, so maybe you found the answer already, but, yes, Frankie Manning is in Hellzapoppin. He & his partner are the last pair to perform in the dance number. He's wearing jean overalls. "Queen of Swing" Norma Miller is in the second pair to perform (she's wearing a large chef's hat). She's 90 years old now and looks good in a Youtube video of her dancing/instructing around 2008.

  • Frankie, what a dead set legend!

  • Frankie Manning remains King of the Lindi.

    Sorely missed.

  • How fabulous is this?

  • i want to know the title of the song!

    thank you.

  • It's "The Shim Sham Song" but The Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra. :)

  • by*

  • This looks like so much fun

  • He will be missed. So much of what I love about swing dancing is because of him.

  • I just watched the documentary about his life and swing dancing and loved it.

This video is so nice to see-wow,what a man he was!

  • any where to download this?

  • Rest in Peace Frankie!

  • At 94, Frankie, you were taken from us far to soon.

  • Rest in Peace, Frankie.

Your legacy of dance and joy will never die.

  • I cannot believe Frankie is no longer with us.

We shall carry on his legacy with our passion and enthusiasm for Lindy Hop.

    Dance in Peace Frankie.

"Lindy Hoppers never die. . . they just swing out." - Frankie Manning

  • We'll miss you Frankie

  • I love frankie- I was his guest at the white house!

  • my swing teacher got to meet Frankie last weekend in San Fran! he said Frankie was awesome; I'm so jealous of him ^.^

  • Check all your razors and your guns

Do the shim-sham shimmy till the risin' sun

  • That was wonderful! My maiden name is Manning and I'm African American. Maybe I'm related to this great dancer. He has more rhythm than I've ever had. :o)

  • "and freeze! boogie time!"

this guy is in his 90's!

  • frankie seems like an awesome guy! love what he does with the shim sham :)

  • hey we've been learning this in tap. it's really cool to see other people doing it. thanks for posting

  • haha.. i just learned this today in tap!!! (:

  • I love the shim sham the dance and the song, both are awesome

  • I love Frankie Manning. If everyone in America were like him we would have no problems.

  • OMG..this is so dopeeeee~~~~

  • I think white people can dance,,, give em somethin worth dancin to with rythm,, i think what made white kids look like they couldnt dance is their music,, like this Modonna and Erasure. and bon jovi crap,,, Give em some rythm and watch em move ;-)

  • Cool!

  • What a Legend! I'm going to Herrang next year, hope I get to meet him! By the way, if anyone knows... do you think it would be weird to go to Herrang alone?

  • he absolutely is - great to see him plus chazz, norma and dawn at herrang.

plenty of folk go on their own, it's no big deal.

just have to make sure you're not shy of asking guys for a dance!

  • He with his age is just great

  • You know,I've been looking for Bill Elliot's Shim Sham Song and I still can't find it anywhere. I would be glad if someone couldo tell me a link to download it.

  • It drives me crazy that the people right behind him are trying to do the Shim Sham starting on the one instead of the eight! (Even after this workshop they still did it on the one... I haven't been there in a while, but I hope it's been corrected now!)

  • nope, still that way :(

  • please teach me, the title of back groud music.

  • to be fair, Frankie teaches all over the country, and in all likelihood a lot of the people in the background have just learned th Shim Sham. and yes, Frankie is one of the most inspirational people i've met. check out his autobiography on amazon, Frankie Manning, Ambassador of Lindy Hop. he's lead an unbelievable life (and still going strong in his 90s!).

  • Frankie's awesome. 89 years old?? Are you kidding me? But they probably should ahve briefed some of the kids in the background before they videoed it.

  • Danm I had to watch that again. He is so smooth, do it daddy!!!LOL

  • I love this video!!!Now pops can dance!!! But those white people just cant get the rhythm!!!LMAO

  • Yeah, that's right - white people really can't dance. *rolls eyes*
