  • There are only two artists today that can pull off melancholy songs, and those two are Emmylou Harris and John Mellencamp. She broke my heart with this one, it's that beautiful.Bless her and this is Favorited, period.

  • Shes incredible

  • As the years pass one constant is that Emmylou will provide us with peace and beauty. This new album is up there with the best work she has ever done. We are some fortunate folks to live in a time when this kind of thing is available.

  • Who is singing backup?

  • @turtlens It's Colin Linden in the hat playing the Goldtop Les Paul.

  • @FullMontyUK - I recognized Colin, I was wondering more about the woman on the end, but if you can identify the whole band, that would be great.

  • @turtlens I was just pleased to ID Colin Linden! (: But I believe that is Emmylou's touring band from late 2008 so it should be just a matter of finding the pictures via a Google search and matching the faves.

  • @turtlens Further to that I think the female singer is Claire Lynch. The rest of the band appears to be the 2008 touring outfit (semi-humorously named 'The Red Dirt Boys') whose details appear on a number of reviews and news items on the web. :)

  • @FullMontyUK - Phil Madeira & Rickie Simpkins. As for Claire Lynch, I can't say. I've looked at pictures of CL, and I wouldn't make a positive ID from what I've seen. Whoever it is, she has a lovely voice.

  • @turtlens Ms Lynch has worked as a backing singer with Emmylou but the bio's I've read aren't clear as to what function she played in 2008. I would certainly agree that from the photographs we can't make anything more than a tentative suggestion as to the identity of the mystery blonde. Still, at least we're trying! :D

  • I just got this album today, and I can't get enough of it.

  • I wish she lived next door, I'd bring her mail for free.

  • Wonderful!!!! *****. Thanks for sharing, Fausto.

  • Beautiful , as always She is!

  • I'd listen to her sing the phone book.

  • Very best to Emmylou. Great post.

  • dave loves emmylou!

  • she was on the friday show for a reason...even in her 60s amazing

  • I just wonder the song "A Broken mans lament" on Emmylou`s beautiful album, is it written by her or Mark Germino? In the liner notes on her CD, Emmylou gets the songwriting credit, but here the credit goes to Germino, and I also seen that sonme other place. So is there enyone who know who actually wrote the song?

  • It's by Germino. It was a mistake in the liner notes.

  • How can anyone not love Emmylou Harris. She is so beautiful in voice and spirit. Thank heaven for her.

  • Simply the best, at her best

  • Really, is there anything as wonderfully brilliant as Emmy in the whole wide world? I don't think there is. She's just the best. And thanks to Dave Letterman for knowing and saying it.

  • Thank you very much for this beautiful Emmylou song:-)

  • Beautiful and legendary.

    thanks very much,

    russ
