@kaptenmange Reading some of the comments, there are a few points that need clarification. Firstly, women (in general) regardless of their religious or cultural background are prone to oppression. This is not exclusive to Islam . This is backed up by Women's aid in the UK where their research reveals that 'on average, 2 women a week are killed by a current or former male partner'. It is merely the ignorance of people that choose to mix Islam with their backward ideology.
@talzeer Secondly, i think that the comment "#Those who "did wrong" will go to hell, and their wives will go to hell with them (no matter how they behaved)." is ridiculous. On the Day of Judgement each person regardless of their gender will be held accountable for their OWN actions and will not take the blame for anyone else.
@talzeer Thirdly, you have done exactly what some so called Muslim 'terrorists' do, and that is to take verses from the Holy Quran out of context and use them to prove invalid points. SO well done to that one.
Fourthly, under no circumstances can men rape women in Islam. It is not something that was practised by our Noble Prophet or by his companions. And I can challenge you to that.
And for your information, I believe that in Islam, women are actually given more rights than men. For example, it is obligatory on a man to strive and provide for his family financially whilst a woman can work outside the house and keep her own money. A woman in Islam is NOT obliged to spend not even £1 if she doesn't want to.
@talzeer Also, Lot offered his daughters (in marriage and their own consent) to men that were gay who were 'flirting' with the Angels who came in human form. He was trying to save them from wrath.
If you have any concerns then please firstly read the verses in the Quran and find out the context they were sent down in, as each verse has a story behind it. Enlighten yourself. If you have further queries then please ask.
@talzeer not my point.... Islam... is the only... i say only major religion in the world that encourage violence, rape, terrorism and beating there own wifes. Religion of peace my ass!!!
Assalamu Alakium brother. I must agree that cultural confusion is the problem. Another problem is how people digest what they are reading and hearing from other muslims. I have heard over and over again that it is best for a woman to stay in the house, but not all women want to stay home all day. Most sisters who speak up for themselves are looked down upon, even though she may have a strong understanding of the qur'an and sunnah.Sometimes they want you to be seen and not heard.
@bluecollarcanuck Why do you ppl think that Muslim woman are oppressed because we wear headscarves ? If we take them off that'll just prove that we don't fear or believe in God !! Ask any Muslim women who wears a scarf and truly believes in her religion , she wouldn't be oppressed !! You believe whatever the media tells you !!
Hahaha...somewhat misguided, I think. That's the vision of Islam you want the rest of the world to believe. That's the vision of Islam you'd LIKE us to think is true. When I see women in Saudi driving, when I see burqas, chadors, niqabs, & such disappearing from the public view in places like Afghanistan, I'll believe what you say. If Muslim women call themselves free, let's see 'em take off those headscarves. :P
That is true women have the right to drive, people get the whole idea of kuwait nd saudia arabia of women not having to drive, but that's only because she's either a reallyyy bad driver her husband uses it as an excuse, or her husband cares for her so he buys her a driver... I hate it when people simply follow
but iunno where in the quraan it says that women shudn't get a drivers' license.
this comment is a complete contradiction to your previous comment. A woman that is denied an education because an insecure man misunderstood the Qur'an...is oppressed. If you cant drive a car because a man, not Allah(swt), thinks you shouldnt...this is oppression!
Islam does not condone these actions. Islam is NOT oppressive...the men that do this and call it Islam are the oppressors.
Muslim women don't need sympathy for doing this great deed. They do this for the sake and approval of Allah and need no approval from society. Trust me; I have my full rights as well as a plethora of privileges. Instead, what I would like to see more of is a basic level of understanding and a willingness to learn why we do the things we do.
As salam alaykum. Let me start by saying thanku 4 both, watching,& taking the time to comment on my video. I, like many Muslims that enjoy research& debate, often engage in conversations w/ ppl of other faiths; with the hopes of detering them frm believing n wat others have suggested 2 them & learn frm authentic sources the truth about where those beliefs originated.Being our openions contradict eachother, I, insha'allah, will use that same approach to show u ur beliefs on this subject r false.
...First, you claim restricting a woman from an advanced, or, in some cases, standard education is a "great deed". Please explain to me what purpose does this serve? Allah(swt) explains in Al-Qur'an, that knowledge is extremely important to the productivity of society. I will restate the challenge already provided in the video..."Where does it say in Al-Qur'an that women should not go to school?" ....(continued)
....Infact, 1 of the reasons "Islamicly" populated Countries have been less productive than other parts of the world is directly related to the lack of education. Women make up about 46% of the worlds population. Can you imagine if only 54% of the world had the potential to be productive? Realistically only about 10% of the remaining 54 would actually contribute. The entire world relying on only 5%...we'd still live in caves. Please, show me 1 place where Allah(swt) says education is only 4 men.
Finally, being uneducated is NOT a "good deed". No where in Al-Qur'an is that suggested, explicitly or implicated. If you personally chose to remain uneducated, that is your choice, but, you should not spread ignorance amongst more motivated sisters in our Ummah. I am not even going to respond to the driving a car comment; I feel that is beyond debatable ignorance. I pray Allah(swt) will teach ur heart the value a possition of women in Islam. 'til then, I fear for your daughters & sisters. Salam
this is soooo true...muslims all over the world need to stop mixing their cultural traditions and beliefs with that of Islam. women are paid the utmost respect in Islam and have rights but some cultures have their own interpretation of the Quran..its really sad

Quote from ur butiful Quran:
# A woman is worth one-half a man. 2:282
#Women have rights that are similar to men, but men are "a degree above them." 2:228
#"All married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess."
You can't have sex with married women, unless they are slaves obtained in war (with whom you may rape or do whatever you like). 4:24

#Your wives and children are your enemies. They are to you only a temptation. 64:14-15
#You don't have to be chaste around your wives or your slave girls. 70:29-30
