Continued from above : What is wrong with Prop H8 is that gay marriage in California never had anything to do with religion. It was a state thing and religions should stay out of that. I cannot see how any gay person would want to try and get married in a mormon temple as the church is so clearly against them. If something is put on the ballot, people are going to vote from their own perspectives, including their religious convictions. Yes, members of the LDS church donated a lot of money. But it was the people of California who voted. You can't say the money paid for propaganda and misinformation that could not be defended, since those opposed to 8 raised $3.5mil more. When someone tells me my religious beliefs CANNOT be considered in how I vote, then all sorts of constitutional rights are taken away FROM ME. The question was always a state thing and it while gay marriage was legal in California it was very clear that churches in no way needed to marry gays. Given this is what you think and that it is you strongest argument against Prop H8 I understand you are concerned.

I noticed that half those pictures the author put in this montage are from the FLDS Church. If I remember correctly they are a different sect from the LDS Church.
As for Proposition 8, I am for and against it. I have no problem if two people of the same sex want to get married, but a religious group has every right to not accept same sex marriages in their practices. So if the LDS don't want same sex marriages performed in their Temples that is their right.

Mormons in the 1800's when they did practice polygamy didn't beg the government to have those marriages recognized as civil marriages like the homos are trying.

Anyone practicing polygamy is excommunicated. 2% of Mormons did for a short amount of time in the 1800s. Some of my closest friends have turned gay throughout the years and I have absolutely no problem with it because it's really not my problem. I live in utah and I go craigslist a lot to check out the funny ads and if you look at the casual encounters section you will see Thousands of LDS men posting ads looking to have gay sex with other lds men, I am not kidding There are ten's of thousands of ads that are like that, so MORMONS really confuse me it's like they are day time agenda pushers and night time fudge packers.. even missionaries on their mission looking for gay sex.... I was not terrorized, but all the protesting at the temples, especially at the LA temple, frightened the people in the temple.

But it was the people of California who voted. You can't say the money paid for propaganda and misinformation that could not be defended, since those opposed to 8 raised $3.5mil more. When someone tells me my religious beliefs CANNOT be considered in how I vote, then all sorts of constitutional rights are taken away FROM ME. The question was always a state thing and it while gay marriage was legal in California it was very clear that churches in no way needed to marry gays. I noticed that half those pictures the author put in this montage are from the FLDS Church. If I remember correctly they are a different sect from the LDS Church.
As for Proposition 8, I am for and against it. I have no problem if two people of the same sex want to get married, but a religious group has every right to not accept same sex marriages in their practices. So if the LDS don't want same sex marriages performed in their Temples that is their right.

This isn't a name we gave ourselves and course it derives from the Book of Mormon, something most people who criticize the church never even pick up. The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS) are commonly confused with LDS people as both are referred to as "Mormons". The large family shown is an FLDS Family.

This video is 100% inaccurate. First of all...Mormons did at one time believe in polygamy, but as hollywoodhunny91 said, it hasn't been around since the 1800s. Look it up. Second...even if our kids admit they are gay, it's 100% their choice. (FREE AGENCY...LOOK IT UP.) Third...isn't the title "Christian" derived from the word "Christ?" I am Mormon and one of my best friends is gay. This video is so inaccurate. Mormons do NOT practice polygamy. Anyone practicing polygamy is excommunicated. 2% of Mormons did for a short amount of time in the 1800s. And that was only because the government issued an extermination order for Mormons (if you want to complain about separation of church vs. state.)

i love that so many people send so much time on us. Lies. Just like liever21, I am religious, and Mormon for that matter, and I am not a homophobe. Some of my closest friends have turned gay throughout the years and I have absolutely no problem with it because it's really not my problem. I know that in the eyes of the Lord, homosexuality is wrong, which is why I don't practice it, but I can't stop others from doing what they want.

Gay people are sometimes nervous to come out to their relatives because they are afraid that their relatives and friends won't accept them for who they are, or even stop loving them. This is NOT because homosexuality is evil, it's because stupid brain-washed religious people have been convinced that perfectly natural, healthy, albeit minority, behavior is a sin, which it is not. People are using their "god" as an excuse to discriminate. .

The only rights that are being taken away are those of homosexuals and not heterosexuals. How are your rights being taken away when in fact prop 8 strips gay peoples rights to get married. :| You are entitled to your opinion but love is love, gay, straight or whatever you may label yourself as.
