All you bjj guys saying that this move leaves you open for a rear naked choke just don't know how to throw. Judokas use this move all the time without getting choked out. There are plenty of judo matches here on youtube. Check it out.
So far I have liked whatI have seen from this art. I am new to the shuaijiao circle!! I think this may be superior to some other throwing arts I have seen. Are there finishing holds and a ground aspect to this form, or just relying on the shear contact with the ground to knock an assailant loopy? Obviously the shear speed with which the throws are executed are important to the defense aspect of this art.
Yes there is finishing in traditional shuai jiao -- you use your kneeling stance to pin your knee against their rib, neck or head. If they move you can suddenly put your weight onto one knee -- very painful! The kneeling stance is also quickly changeable so you can quickly use your other knee if your opponent gets busy defending against your first knee. Also, you do not let go of your opponent when
Actually, this one is a bit different. Its a variation of morote seionage. Instead of having your hips square to the person you're throwing you go into that cocked knee stance. It allows for a greater whip action in the throw. Small difference, but a greater impact.
you have thrown them by their arm, this way you can apply a chin na technique on their wrist or elbow ... man, being thrown by my old teacher was so painful. Just cos you're on the floor didn't mean the pain ended ...
How does it leave you open for a choke? Did you see how fast the tech. is supposed to be done? The idea is to do it smoothly and quickly enough that the opponent cannot do something like that. It is still possible, but if this is done well, not likely.
No!! all you have to do to counter is push his spine/back forwad to stop him gaining leverage, then twist your arm around to get choke his neck. actually this move is very easy to counter. Try it and see. Btw, any move that leaves you with your back to the opponent is not a very good one. If you fight experienced grapplers/wrestlers you will quickly find this out!!
Ok, I see what you're going for here, but the idea is that if you come in with the right set up or use it as a counter, it's more likely that the opponent will have a very hard time doing what you said. I've used moves such as this in sparring matches with people who grapple primarily in successful manner, so that disproves your statement about moves where the back is turned not working. You're not supposed to stay in that position for very long.
Another thing sarason, I'm not trying to start an arguement or be a jerk, so I mean all of this respectfully. You have good taste in your vids and bring up legitamate points. But every move can be countered. "actually this move is very easy to counter." However true this is, a basic straight punch is also actually very easy to counter, yet it lands all the time in fights. Just throwing that out there (pardon the pun).
I see!! yeah, you made some good points. Let me rephrase myself; I would not try this type of move, especially because i spar with some very strong Cage Rage fighters. They would eat me alive if i turned my back on them, even for a second!! But i agree with your points and i respect the way you put them across.
This is very similar to judo throw called seoi nage (except the footwork). If did with the correct speed its is near impossible to get the back of the throwing guy, specially if he unbalanced the opponent and is going at a low throw. Someone can block the throw with the hips and then get the back or another takedown, but the throwing guy should be already connecting to another movement such a leg sweep or getting back to a safe position.
look like a very deep style morei seionage but i like how thi ones dynamic more.

Hi!
There are no finishing holds in competitive Shuaijiao.
The speed, direction, and setup of the throw are important to the successful execution of each throw
