the recording puts a hard edge on her voice which is a pity. Once again another ridiculous production from a self-indulgent director. If Donizetti had wanted the mad scene set in a rose (?) garden under a full moon, he would have done so. Donizetti's score specifies the banqueting hall in front of the assembled wedding guests, but that's clearly too straighforward for such a "great" artist as the ninny who directed this.
I've seen worse productions. This one is quite nice - a new vision, a modern one, but, very important, not a crappy, european trashy one (such as the one in Paris-Bastille, also with Anderson). And Anderson's metallic voice is just perfect to make the madness scene credible. I love her.
Don't be so silly! This is heather, not rose. Heather is very popular in Scotland (where Lucia is set, remember?)and it changed colour according to the atmosphere of the scene.
Bravissima!

by the way, this performance is from 2000, not 1997 - that explains even more, why Anderson doesn't sound so fresh and easy anymore above high c

No this is a 1997 broadcast, from Barcelona.

No, the date is wrong. The performances took place in January 2000. Anderson stepped in for Giusy Devinu, the second cast was Massis.

Thanks coloraturafan for re-posting! I think I recall this from months ago, before it disappeared. Was this Barcelona?
