  • chuck norris wrote this with his knife

  • @sorinion61 Chuck Norris is talentless and couldn't even come close to this if he tried for the rest of his life.

  • Simply Themel Best...

  • this is the music i've heard in my head all my life.

  • ..Face expressions have nothing to do with the talent or love between the violinist and the violin ..:-)

    Bravo ..Bravo Shlomo Mintz !!!

    Thanks for sharing :-)

  • Beat is good on elegant , serious and gentle treats efforts for best and

  • FUCK THIS CAPRICE GAHHHHH

  • Is he plucking those strings with his left hand at 2:20?

  • @ahz123 no, those r double stopped 32nd notes

  • easily my favorite caprice, and the best version of it!

  • Que bieeen......

  • he's a "demon"

  • is a "demon"

  • how can i sell my soul to the Devil to play like that?

  • im learning this one on my steel drum :) i already have caprice 24 memorized

  • Surely gods envy such talent..

  • He's more of a pro at playing than i'm a pro at breathing :)

  • "Good day, I am here to rip your face off. Sit back and enjoy"

  • 1:55 like the campanella..:D

  • I have my favourites on the 24; Paganini was probably friendly with an obscure side for dissonances and hunger, cause he was thin; working hard his art; no time for anything else than playing until fortunated he became; contracted cancer; went to jail i don't know why; been compared to the music devil : wow; what a great life; between Classical era(les lumieres); and romantic revolution ! Unexact Beethoven comtemporain (about ten years difference)!

  • mistrz.

  • I like this number, wanna listen at night.

  • 360 no scope... WITH THE SCREEN TURNED OFF

  • Awesome piece by Paganini. 0:41 gives me chills.

  • @slayermia you have to push yourself to the limit of your abilities. try your hardest and then try harder. everyone learns at a different pace.

  • @slayermia copying some things is ok, but i think that in order to be a true great musician, one should develope their own style and just be their self. there are so many clones in this world and to see some one creating their own path is rare. this is only my opinion though.

  • the guy is just perfect..

  • 50% of his playing depends on his facial expresions :D

  • @slayermia Do you have a teacher, and a good one at that?

I think one thing that might help is to watch videos of people like Mintz and Hahn -- people who have pretty much FLAWLESS technique -- and observe how they use their bow to create different sounds, and how they position their left hand to make things easier.

  • @lakesidemourning lmao, Hahn does NOT have flawless technique...

  • @runninriot15 Care to name someone who does, then?

Also observe where I said "pretty much" flawless. Of course there are flaws here and there. Who doesn't have flaws? But I know I have personally improved my technique a lot by observing the way she positions her elbows, etc.

  • @slayermia One thing my teachers always tell me is "It's not the quantity of practice, it's the quality." Perhaps you're spending tons of time on the peice, but are you practicing carefully? "Careful" practicing DOES take a lot of the fun and enjoyment out of it, but the end result is sooooo worth it. Good luck!

  • hihihi

  • Man... I've been practicing violin for 12 years now... Since i was 4 i was practicing the art of violin. All I can do compared to his skill.. is seriously, lick his nuts.. :'(

  • DIVO! VIRTUOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Look at his fingers move like that...yes, he is amazing...and makes it look effortless, although it likely took years to get to this place where it just comes...(unless he is indeed a prodogy...).

  • Encantador

  • this guy is a beast

  • you know whats amazing, is this guy has memorized and executes every capricci of paganini flawlessly, thats a musical genius, virtuoso, artist if there ever was one.

  • @fireballkiller memorizing these capricces should not be amazing, iy should be necessary. Pianists memorize every piece they play, and every musician should do it as it is of vital importance to improve the performance. Orchestras do not help too much...

  • Una favola!

  • One of the best Paganini's Caprices. And of course great performance by Shlomo Mintz.

  • Shlomo Mintz has so much talent and you can tell he loves playing the violin by looking at his face.

  • and the fact that his talent appears almost natural . . . he never looks like he has to work to produce amazing prodigious music

  • @slimbullet96 and a jew by his name

  • @slimbullet96 I can tell he loves playing by listenning...

    Beautiful piece

  • @slimbullet96 It's absolutelly right! We can feel his love by music just looking at him!

capriccio 1?3? 5? 11? 16 ? dove li hai lasciati?

  • ...where ISN'T the music in Paganini? If you don't hear music in Paganini, then I can only believe that you aren't listening....

But hey. If that's your opinion, that's cool. I'm just ridiculously drawn to the sound of Shlomo Mintz and Paganini put together.

  • Agreed. This is one of his most soulful (musically) caprices, too.

  • Well, it also depends on what you mean by "music". ;)

  • This is true. :)

  • @Gheven1

Music is very subjective - if you don't really feel this is "music", that's fine. But don't try to convince us that it isn't. Some of us enjoy the 24 Caprices not only as a show of technical mastery, but also as music in its own right. This is the same as my opinion of rap - I don't see how it's music (figuratively, of course), but others enjoy it as music all the same.

  • Culture is the ability of recognizing objective beauty. To define rap as "music" simply denotes scarce musical skills since it might probably be defined as a gender of art involving rhythm and poetry. Rap is rap, not music.

Our ear is a bad monster, as it gets easily used to any kind of rubbish, if only one lets it listening to it long enough; this is why knowing Pag is academically ok, but one should spend most time listening to real artist. Pag was a genial player, not a noticeable composer.

  • I rather like his compositions. His use of thematic variation appeals to me musically. Hence, personal taste.

  • Well, music to some is not music to others. And there is no one artist that people "should" listen to. It is all a matter of personal taste, and the intent that the composer had.

  • rap is more than just rhythm and poetry. if u listen to good rap songs, there are very good examples of polyphony and complicated cord progressions, along with rhythm and lyrics. do you call that not music? bach composed stuff with 3 chords in an entire piece, so thats not music either?

what would u consider a real artist if you don't consider paganini one? what's your definition of real music?

  • Well, let's take one for all; Johannes Brahms, may be? ;)

  • so brahms writes good music, but paganini doesnt? maybe its just that you don't have a taste for pieces like this for solo violin. have u listened to wieniawski or heinrich ernst caprices, they are all similar to this stuff. do you consider that music?

  • have u heard the wieniawski violin concerto? its not that much different from bruch. i also like bruch better but wieniawski is just as good.

if u dont like paganini, then u probably won't like any of the advanced repertoire of violin. dont hate on something just because you dont understand it.

  • This guy is using wallhacks and aimbot.

  • lol random game references ftw xD

  • TEXTURE HACKS FTW

  • @ASirensSoliloquy .... and the winner of the nerdiest comment ever award goes to....

  • @ASirensSoliloquy no scopes.. :(

  • @ASirensSoliloquy you are a dumbass! ever seen a vagina?

  • wahnsinn..

  • yeah except 'black metal' sucks, and paganini does not.

  • Paganini was the first black metal musician when you think about it. He had long dark hair, dressed in all black, Was thought to have skills given by satan, and was denied burial on holy ground.

  • To think of being buried alive...what a life!

What a devotion! What a true musician!

  • IT's amazing Paganini can compose such a brilliant piece! Peopel often forget it is these great composers that gave birth to such beautiful music.

  • we youtubers don't forget :)

  • His tempo is great!!!He's a man guy!!!:))))))))

  • too bad he's married already! :-P

  • yes, and i think to a german too!:)

  • that's cool!! :)

  • magical e-string playing...

  • and magical g, d, and a string playing as well. if he had a c it would be magical c string playing too

  • i love how his body is so calm, but his sound is so intense.

  • Every emotion...this is where it is at. This is what "it"is about...(2 me) Thank you Paganini, and what an awesome rendition! :) Great Post!!! 50*s.....

  • what a god

  • does he a stradivarius?

  • speed is subjective, for one thing. Secondly, histrionics are sufficient here; just look how much emotion he is putting into it.

You are quite the baffling type :)

  • I actually find this interpretation to be quite lovely and emotional; I prefer it over any other. It makes my heart swell with warmth as I imagine various stages of romance, a new scene created with every new section he plays.

His heart is into it, and you feel it. Well, maybe you don't, specifically. But I do, and I love it.

  • his rendition really is beautiful. it's a shame that some of the caprices from shlomo mintz are missing :(

but i can enjoy the ones that are on youtube quite contentedly.

  • very true

  • i have the exact same sheet music! :D

  • aah i want :) Make me a copy yes?

  • he really plays the violin

  • Comment removed

  • I think this is the nicest caprice =) no. 6 is also nice =)

  • beatiful,

  • this is ok, but you should also listen to Deniz Tahberer.

  • I listened to him...

HOW THE HELL ARE YOU COMPARING HIM WITH MINTZ??

  • Also anyone minds tellng me why doesnt his face any expression like theres no passion in his playing I know some of you think that since im the rocker guy here that Mintz over there should be head banging but no what I want to see is a face that shows what he fells like other masters of instruments like for example: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jordan Ruddess, Steve Vai, or Rick Wakeman.

  • The facial expressions vary. Some are absurdly dramatic, while others are stiller. Schlomo Mintz is average for facial expressions, but you can't base anything off that - you have to listen to the playing, and his is extremely passionate. Since you're the rocker guy, you should check out Die Erlkonig for violin.

  • Ok I don't want to offend your intelligence because you seem relativelly intelligent. Anyways I would say you're focusing too much on his face speccifcally, watch his over all body language. If you had ever played violin before, you would realize that playing the music, often forces the body to express what you are trying to communicate on an emotional level. And no offense he's probally trying to not screw up, paganini is very hard he doesn't have room to say "i should make facial expressions"

  • I actually got in here looking for the song that Yngwie Malmsteen basses one his guitar solos of (For those who want to check it its called Far Beyond the Sun) If anyone here know the real song plz tell me. I really enjoy the violin I want to learn how to play it after I finish learning how to play guitar and people dont start with the old "The guitar isnt a real instrument unlike the violin" thing. By the way if anyone has some other good violin songs plz tell id like to listen to them.

  • This is absolutely stunning.

  • Does Mintz have some kind of a disability? I mean no offense.. but his expression always seems so.. aloof and out of touch, although his playing certainly doesn't sound like it. His renditions of the caprices are among my very favorites, but I always wonder what he's thinking as he plays.

  • He probably thinks about what's for lunch.

  • As a violinist I think of lunch too many times :p

  • Honestly, I have heard reports of his personal character that he is in fact a sometimes slightly conceited individual. Doesn't change the fact of his fantastic playing, but you should know that he has that tendency.

  • Interesting to know, but ultimately, it really doesn't make much difference. =)

  • if there was ever a case for deserving to tend towards conceit he'd be front and center

  • Hes thinking a long the lines of hmmm what am I gonna have for supper today?

  • Holy smokes

  • very beautiful...it makes me feel another, in a world made by notes and emotions... great!

  • wow!!!

  • I agree about the music, it is not just exercise, but VIOLATIONE is right actually it is supposed to be "look at how fuckin good I am".))))))))))))

  • O.o Is this how Paganini would have done it? Amazing

  • Probably only with a little more showiness to it. From all accounts Paganini was a bit of a showman on stage.

  • mucho beatiful!!

  • It seems so easy for him! Fantastic!

  • Thanks for posting Mintz caprices!!!!!!!!

  • Smooth, fluid, in-tune, and musical. Nice.

  • "THE REAL THING"...Fantasticollo...NICK"

  • Wow, this is so awesome!

  • HOLY Sh*t, I can't get enough of his caprices!

Makes me giggle like a lil girl :D

  • So you heard that too,maturanesa... Haha

  • He has total control of everything!!

  • Oh, this is one of my favorites!!!

  • markov is the paganini of today

his 24th caprice is so crazy

  • why did people mark that as inapropriate?

    jeez freedom of speech people!

  • I don't think Paganini is necessarily supposed to be all crazy and "I'm so insanely good, look at how fucking virtuosic I am".... it also has that element but the real art to it is making it sound like opera because it is basically Italian opera executed on the violin.

  • Actually it is supposed to be "look at how fuckin good I am" If you want to play opera sit in a pit and enjoy while the singers get all the accolades

  • That is a very ignorant statement. Like I said, it also has that element, however, any well educated violinist or violin teacher will say that the root of Paganini is opera. There is obviously no way to get around the fact that it is difficult and virtuosic, but I'm saying one should have opera in mind while playing Paganini. After all, it is music, not just pointlessly hard and technical exercises.

  • I see where this argument is going. It will come down to it being a matter of taste. Personally I'm a well educated violist (I went to Eastman) I've seen countless violinists try to play pieces that are too hard for them and justify their lack of technique by "emoting" in the fast passages. In my experience a true virtuoso can be musical without slowing down in the fast difficult passages. But don't call my statement ignorant simply because you disagree with it.

  • Fine, I can respect your opinion, and I feel stupid arguing, but I don't think you get my point. You seem to think that what I mean is that it should be played slower and more "emotional" and less clean as a way to justify its difficulty. On the contrary, I think it's more difficult to play it fast and clean and to add a level of musicality which clearly imitates opera so that it doesn't just sound like a robotic exercise.

  • i dont like the note at 1:02

    But the rest is awesome!!

  • So... it was THAT easy!

Mintz is so great. Thank you!!!

  • It's Vety Easy, but Shlomo Is the best of Caprice, He's Famous For it alone

  • omg! how easily plays he the tenth scale! just amazing.

this is my favourite caprice and Mintz plays it wonderful:)

  • I'm just impressed by the princely demeanor with which he executes these fiendishly difficult works, with nary a sign of self-indulgence or "showmanship"...

  • crazy tenth scale

  • fantastic thank you so much for uploading!!!
