  • At 0:46, that's a shot of East Liberty back when Penn Avenue still had the old Penn Mall setup. The sculpture in front of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church is now located at the corner of South Whitfield Street and Baum Blvd. Of course, Penn Avenue has been two-way traffic since the fall of 1986.

  • I hated that old studio...it was sooooo dark.

  • Rockwood, Karen RM 205A

    Hughes, Carol

    Taylor, Carol

    Scuterri, Linda

  • Warehouse in Wheeling...that's where a bank drive thru window is at now.

  • da news bak then seemed alot better bak then

  • @kiski7000 Speak English you stupid idiot.

  • what date was this newscast?

  • lol... the tunnel thing is awesome! totally blew my mind, old graphics or not.

  • hhah yeaaaa

  • WOW! that if from 1985 and still has great graphics... I am impressed! Great find! :)

  • The voice-over gentleman has a very distinctive and warming voice.

  • That's George Eisenhauer, a longtime voiceover for KDKA-TV and also on-air talent at KDKA-AM.

  • That is Bill Hamilton ... he used to be morning DJ for WBNS-AM in Columbus many moons ago. Over the years, he has been the announcer for Kaufmann's, Elder-Beerman, Kroger and Ohio State University. He still does voiceover work from Columbus.

  • Now I'm kinda curious as to see who that Steeler hopeful was, haha.

  • I remember that tunnel climax. Man, that brings back a lot of memories, especially those ancient graphics! Now I'm going to have to look up WTAE, WPXI, WPGH, WIIC (the old channel 11) and other Pittsburgh stations. this is just too good.

  • Ever notice that KDKA didn't want to give up the tunnel? Not until, what, spring 2002 when they started doing their graphics in house... there was still some sort of tunnel there. Not always opening onto the city skyline (by the way, the 89 video with the <KDKA-TV 2> logo turning into the tunnel and the perfect CG cityscape was the best!), but still there in spirit, till what, 2002?

  • The voice is that of long-time (and now somewhat retired) KD announcer George Eisenhauer. The voice in KD'S "Moments are Forever" promos is his.

And the music used in the for the newscast had to be specially made for KD. It sounded to me that it had sigs of both the "Here's 2" (Nee We're 4) and "KD & You" promo campaigns that the station used...

  • The music is The News Image by Tuesday Productions.

  • The guy that did the voice-over for this is STILL at KDKA. Anyone from Pittsburgh might know the guy's name.

  • I've heard the same guy on a KDKA open from 1989. He was also the voiceover for WBRE for the last couple of years.

  • WOW - finally a "TUNNEL" open posted somewhere. More please! LOL
