  • Yes... Divine version!

Hi people, I'm brazilian and also recorded this song. Look for Joubert Costa Spain here.

    Jazz forever!

    Thank's

  • great post thank's great stuff

  • HETALIA!!!

  • Talk about a fat sounding alto. Woulda guessed a tenor if there wasn't a video.

  • One of the finest jazz compositions ever. Outstanding performance.

  • この曲に出会えた私は幸せである。

  • I say less International hatred and more of that jazzy bass! Who's that on bass btw?

  • @demolitionpunxx John Patitucci

  • This is one of my most favorite songs ever.I was only 15 when I started to listen to Chick Corea. My first Album was Light as a Feather. Unfortunatly I never got the opportunity to see him live. You tube is good. Enough for me. What a happy time for me it was then.

  • CHICK CHOREA THE BEST!!!

  • @Indiarulezzzz so... you are judging a whole country based on something that happened 500 years ago?

  • @Indiarulezzzz hey dude, maybe you could check out your country's history? it's just as bad

  • 最高!!!

  • ♥♥♥

  • I appriciate a lot Marienthal, but his face... I'd slap it

  • playin this in jazz band, its epic

  • @darkcloudg same! haha

  • Solo il pubblico del montreux poteva!

  • The drum and bass are so brazilian!

  • @MancoBiker thats because dave weckl is on drums!!

  • Spain vicmusic electric band , a little fast opening phrase, and touched so, I am still in the theater, good way to finish high school.

  • It seems like they're having so much doing this.

    BEST JOB EVER

  • thats real music

  • spaiN

  • I think I just saw this saxophonist in a Gordon Goodwin song - I only recognize him cause he looks just like Mel Gibson

  • this was an amazing crowd...

  • Playing this on bass for half-term exam...

  • Whisky Whisky Whisky Whisky.....

  • great

  • weckl is amazin' but he doesn t have the samba thing....

  • haha dude that audience is worthy of listening to them man. they really know how to comp

  • (Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of joujii99 at twitter)

  • Oh god that sax solo.... O.O

  • espanholada

  • Me encanta este tipo jazz progresivo esw grandioso todo lo ke tocan este grupo de chick corea

  • gli 89 nn mi piace nn capiscono proprio un cazzo!!!!!!!

  • Chick corea, Dave Weckl, Patitucci, Gambale... how do I not know about this supergroup!?

  • Kinda sounds like Aquatic Ruin from Sonic 2. Go check it out for yourself and you will notice it. I guess Sega sampled it from them

  • Wow, these guys are all such beasts at their instruments!

  • hello spaniards. meaning europe's spanish speaking spaniards :D

when you write laughter do you write it "hahaha" or the mexican style "jajaja" ?

  • @Darusdei always jajaja, and it's not "mexican style", It is just because in spanish the aitch is silent

  • @MataGigantes okay but when you write in english and then *laugh* it isn't very logical to use "jajaja" when writing in english.

  • I have the most evil memories of Spain, but I have very few bad memories of Spaniards.

  • *Ops , Dave

  • Very good, but teaches David to play Samba!

  • Stevie Wonder's version of this song is way more exciting. No doubt this is good. But Stevie's version has more flavor.

  • @BigDaddyBass I don't mean to sound close-minded, but have you heard Stevie's live version of "Spain"? The solos sound so much the same, which is something I despise to no end.

I wouldn't say Stevie's version has more flavor, either, but it's just opinion.

Stevie's = Has a RnB twist to it

Chick Corea's = jazz fusion all the way

  • @busterbrownation RnB? there was nothing RnB about it bro. That was jazz fusion all the way. If anything that was more realistic version of what Spanish music should sound like. And Stevie's arrangement had a way better setup for solo's. And if we're talking Jazz fusion, Stevie's is better cause they use more "Fusion" sounds. Weather Report was Jazz Fusion. Chick Corea Electric.....ehhh. More like Early-Jazz Fusion. Jazz Fusion pieces usually has a very wide variety in abstract sound.

  • I love Patitutcci

  • Dave Weckl is insane! :O

  • Damn it. This vid forced me excited. I can't sleep.

  • Wow alineación de lujo.

  • They just divided by 0

  • Theres great version of this song from czech country band Druhá Tráva. I just love it, so if you´re interested check it out.

  • audience participation in a jazz piece. that's fcking epic!!!

  • Lol they sound incredible! But Frank Gambale is ugly as shit. But that does not matter at all, you're listening to them not looking at them. I mean just look at Anne Wilson. Yeah she sure has quite, plumped up within the last 30 years but she still sounds just as good as she did when they started. Looks aren't everything, it's what's within :)

  • Rhodes man...

    best keys ever

  • thumbs up for rhodes! no jk but I do love the rhodes, I use one from the 80's and am currently fixing up one from '73. it's so good

  • So beautiful!!!

  • Beautiful piece. The original song is a classical piece written by a Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo called: Concierto de Aranjuez. In my humble opinion best interpretation was redone with Al Jarreau called Spain. You can find it on youtube. Checkout Steve Gadd's solo at the end. Simply amazing. Of course Chick Corea/Return to Forever do a marvelous job. Saw RTF yesterday in Austin, TX at the Austin City Limits doing this with Jean Luc Ponty and Stanley Clark on bass and Lenny White on Drums.

  • Muy buen sonido

  • By far one of the most talented groups in the world. The amount of musical genius on that stage is mind blowing! and how bout that crowd?!

  • im a huge fan of metal, and when i read the name of the bassist i thought it read john pertrucci. remember this song from my jazz band years, classic :)

  • That's a professional audience! Wish I could have been there...

  • Patitucci best authist bass player !

  • SPAIN!!!!!!

  • lol @Chick's face at :21

  • I know it's Chick's band, but I can't quit listening to John. LOL

  • Magnifico *_* !

  • FANTASTICO !!!!! MET THEM ALL WHEN THEY CAME TO MALAYSIA IN 85 !!!! I HAD THEM SIGNED ON MY JACKET !!!!!

  • FANTASTICO !!!!!

  • John Patitucci.... WOW

  • If anyone is interested in a transcription of Eric's fantastic solo here, you can find one at charles mcneals site in the "other solos" page.

  • @SelmerMarkVI66 Thanks!!!

  • @rachmaninoff1127 he's using a Mark VI, he always plays this saxophone.

  • Who is playing set here?

  • I am a huge metal fan, been my whole life. Still I'm not afraid to listen other awesome musicians, like these guys right here. This is so mindblowing!

  • it's dream...

  • did you notice that Pattituci is playing as if they were going directly to the solo instead to the cue and how he looks at Chick and returns inmediatelt at 1:11

  • secos !

  • Quando la musica non ha parole----ed è la musica a parlare...hahahahaaaaaaa .......che meraviglia

  • Marienthal nails this down!!

  • Thumbs up if Kameron Whalum brought you here :)

  • It really is impressive that Mr. Chick Corea able interact with the audience, taking into account that this is not pop music but jazz. It only talks about the size of his genius. By the way, compliments for this great band.

  • he just taught the whole house how to play spain

  • 82 people with myopia missed the like button!

  • Is that Frank Gambale?? o.O

  • hahah what a fkn loser

  • Who taught Mel Gibson how to play Saxophone?

  • ACCURIST CHRONOGRAPH WR 100M

  • Awesome alto sax solo. .Yeah.!

  • the pianist n guitarist is a stupid musician. stupid solo. anyway stevie wonder live at last is 100x better

  • @hafizmagician You can't compare Stevie and Chick.

  • @Kilmori

Both legends in their own rights,

and I'm more of a Stevie fan, but no.. he wouldn't come close in jazz I think

  • @DexStanT Agreed. I, too, think Stevie's version is way funkier and catchier, but Chick takes jazz into a whole other universe. Both versions are legendary, yes, and this song is very variable. This is just one reason to consider Chick a legend.

  • @hafizmagician obvious troll is obvious.

  • Awesome song; but Santana should be on the guitar

  • @MrNeilpeartfan Wouldn't that be good!

  • WOW, the audience is actually musically adept.

  • @ 3:42 - 3:49 Everything in the world is perfect.

  • @ 3:42 Everything in the world is perfect.

  • Also Lady Gaga's audience can do that.

  • 81 people are deaf!

  • Is it just me or does the sax player look like Noah Wyle?

  • @HerrHuld

    Mel Gibson also?

  • good drummer

  • I'll give $1,000 to whoever can count the number of notes in Eric's solo...

  • @Marioag0412

I bet he doesn't even know! It was that awesome!

  • Uno de los mejores teams de fusion que hay.... gran cancion...

  • Chick Corea - Keys

    John Patitucci - Bass

    Frank Gambale - GTR

    Dave Weckl - Drums

    Eric Marienthal - Sax

IMHO, the one of the best Fusion bands ever.

  • @BukaBora they are a dream fusion team!!!

  • @BukaBora I knew it was Frank Gambale on the guitar. Hahaha, his tone is so recognizable and welcoming. And yeah, one of the BEST. If not the best combination ever.

  • could someone pleas list their names

  • Only people with 100% confidence in their own instruments could pull this off. I haven't heard a whole lot of Jazz before.. but I'm into stacks of metal.. and the similarities are incredible. Each one of these players knows how to be a part of the band as whole.. and at the same time challenge themselves by experimenting with crazy improv.

  • what that line up at all?

  • los buenos deseos de la India

  • @MrRahulketu los buenos deseos del señor Canadá

  • 3:14 i fall in love

  • Who´s on bass?

  • @JoeranDahl John Patitucci

  • great

  • Eric your the fuckin man!!!!!

  • 3:37 CUMMMMMMMM!!!

  • DAVE WECKL!!

  • 78 ppl don't like mel Gibson movies

  • This is a typical example where jazz music comes from heart. I listened surely twenty times this video, and can't get enough. I find it a week ago. But over the top is this call and response Chick/crowd. A lesson in jazz phrasing while a gig. Really useful to trascribe it, for practicing. A fantastic Line Up too. 78 people had no idea over music.

  • I play T-bone myself, but boy is the sax a beautiful instrument!!

It just seems to convey so much soul...especially when played like this!!

  • chick's keyboard: tararantantaran. crowd: tararantantaran. oh, how i love it!

  • i love how he interacts with the crowd at the end...they loved it

  • Fabuloso este tema por mas que lo escuche no me canso jajaja

  • Spain is beautiful! This is a very useful site yourspain.info if you are traveling to Spain

  • Aguita con el Chic Korea!!.. Jajaja... Kagon'diooo...

  • The sax player have a fabulous talent!

  • In the solo there's a drum roll over the fills and he is CLEARLY not hitting the snare drum when this happens, what kind of black magic is this?

  • Muito bom esse vídeo, adoro essa música... fã! parabéns galera.

  • the guy on the sax looks like that blaine guy from glee...

  • @19abaddon88 lol nice one.... he also looks a bit like mel gibson :P

  • @19abaddon88 Never compare a musician to someone on Glee! You have angered the music gods and they shall smite thee for thyne sins.

  • For all who don't know. Eric Marienthal is one of the NICEST and most DOWN TO EARTH people you will ever meet in your entire life. I met and was able to play with him 2 years ago so I know first hand. (I play drums) He is absolutely amazing. If you don't already know, he has multiple solo albums out and also plays in the Big Phat Band. Check him out and keep playing/supporting music!

  • the sax player is fantastic. as they all are. but his solo shined.

  • sax!

  • played this in jazz band. saw him play it live last weekend at the UNC greeley jazz fest. too sick.

  • DAVE WECKL= BEEAASSTT!

  • Eric is my new idol because of this solo. Truly amazing
